Meghan Trainor tends to pop up in entertainment news for some really bizarre hot takes every now and again, but her music is still boppy af. She doesn't have the most technically perfect vocals and a lot of her stuff can start to sound the same, but if you're a big pop fan there's something here for you. She's been a huge part of the body positivity movement for women, and a lot of her stuff promotes self-love as well .
Here is our traditional fact dump (information current as of February 2026):
-32 years old (she's a Capricorn)
-Born in Nantucket, Massachusetts
-Singer, songwriter, and television personality
-In addition to vocals, she can play guitar, ukulele, keyboard, piano, and trumpet
-Primary genres include pop, R&B, doowop, and blue-eyed soul
-Has been married to actor Daryl Sabara since 2018 and they have three children together
-Has won 17 total awards, including 2 Billboards, 1 Grammy, and 1 People's Choice
-Has released 6 solo studio albums (5 regular and 1 holiday) with another one due out later this year
We'll be focusing on Trainor's solo albums with the exception of her holiday album, but check it out this coming winter because it's actually pretty good. I also liked doing this with Beyoncé, so we'll be looking at chart placement and certifications again as well. Let's jump in!
Title (2015)
Trainor's debut pop/doowop/blue-eyed soul/R&B album was released January 19th, 2015 by Epic when she was 21 years old. With a run time of 32:27, the album had four singles released: All About That Bass (6/30/14); Lips Are Movin' (10/21/14); Dear Future Husband (3/17/15); and Like I'm Gonna Lose You (6/23/15). Title peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200, has been certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA, and won Favorite Album at the 2016 Peoples Choice Awards. I ended up enjoying this album as a whole more than I expected to. She has some vocal tendencies that grate on me a bit, but overall this was really fun to listen to. Here's my Top 3:
Track 2: All About That Bass (written by M. Trainor, K. Kadish)
Eleven years later and this song is still absolutely iconic. It was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2015 Grammys, peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is certified Diamond by the RIAA.
Because you know I’m all about that bass, ‘bout that bass, no treble/I’m all about that bass, ‘bout that bass, no treble/I’m all about that bass, ‘bout that bass, no treble/I’m all about that bass, ‘bout that bass, bass, bass, bass, bass/Yeah, it’s pretty clear I ain’t no size two/But I can shake it, shake it like I’m supposed to do/‘Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase/And all the right junk in all the right places/I see those magazines working that Photoshop/We know that shit ain’t real, come on now, make it stop/If you got beauty, beauty, just raise ‘em up/‘Cause every inch of you is perfect, from the bottom to the top/Yeah, my mama, she told me, "Don’t worry about your size"/She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night"/You know I won’t be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll/So if that’s what you’re into, then go ahead and move along
Track 3: Dear Future Husband (written by M. Trainor, K. Kadish)
This song will always be special to me because it was what I used for the bouquet toss at my wedding. It peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA.
Take me on a date, I deserve it, babe/And don’t forget the flowers every anniversary/‘Cause if you treat me right, I’ll be the perfect wife/Buying groceries, buy, buying what you need/You got that nine to five, but baby, so do I/So don’t be thinking I’ll be home and baking apple pies/I never learned to cook, but I can write a hook/Sing along with me, sing, sing along with me/You gotta know how to treat me like a lady/Even when I’m acting crazy, tell me everything’s alright/Dear future husband, here’s a few things you’ll need to know if you wanna be/My one and only all my life/Dear future husband, if you wanna get that special loving/Tell me I’m beautiful each and every night
Track 8: Walkashame (written by M. Trainor, K. Kadish)
This one was just fun. It wasn't released as single and didn't chart, but it's still a bop.
Oh my God, I put my pants on inside out/I couldn’t tell ‘cause the lights were out/I beat the sunrise again, oh, oh, oh/Neighbors stare, I smile and wave ‘cause I just don’t care/They’re probably jealous of my sexy hair/And the heels in my hands/Well, please don’t judge, it was mad late/I had a lot to drink, but I was only being safe/Well, don’t act like you haven't been there, seven a.m. with the bed head/Everyone knows it’s the walk of shame, but/My daddy knows I’m a good girl, we all make mistakes in the drunk world/Everyone here’s done the walk of shame
Thank You (2016)
Trainor's sophomore pop/dance pop/R&B album was released May 13th, 2016 by Epic when she was 22 years old. With a run time of 39:17, the album had three singles released: NO (3/4/16); Me Too (5/5/16); and Better (8/29/16). Thank You peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Like Title, I was pleasantly surprised by this album. It felt a little more modern pop than bubblegum like her debut, but it was still quite fun. Here's this Top 3:
Track 2: Me Too (written by M. Trainor, K. Kadish)
My husband had the silliest car dance to this song when it was all over the radio. It peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA.
Who’s that sexy thing I see over there/That’s me standing in the mirror/What’s that icy thing hanging ‘round my neck/That’s gold, show me some respect, oh/I thank God every day/That I woke up feeling this way/And I can’t help loving myself/And I don t need nobody else, nuh uh/If I was you, I’d wanna be me, too/I’d wanna be me, too, I’d wanna be me, too/If I was you, I’d wanna be me, too/I’d wanna be me, too, I’d wanna be me, too
Track 3: NO (written by M. Trainor, E. Frederic, J. Hindlin)
I still love this song, absolute banger. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.
I think it’s so cute, and I think it’s so sweet/How you let your friends encourage you to try and talk to me/But let me stop you there, oh, before you speak/Nah to the ah to the no no, no/My name is no, my sign is no/My number is no, you need to let it go/You need to let it go, need to let it go/Nah to the ah to the no, no, no/My name is no, my sign is no/My number is no, you need to let it go/You need to let it go, need to let it go/Nah to the ah to the no, no, no
Track 13: Mom ft. Kelli Trainor (written by M. Trainor, J. Carlsson, R. Golan, J. Trainor)
This is such an adorable ode to Trainor's mom. It didn't chart, but I love the family affair of Trainor, her mom, and her brother all having a hand in this song.
You might have a mom, she might be the bomb/But ain’t nobody got a mom like mine/Her love’s ’til the end, she’s my best friend/Ain’t nobody got a mom like mine/She’s my world, she’s my heart, and there’s no denying/I’m her girl no matter what even when I’m lying/She loving me, loving me, loving me, loving me, love, she love me like nobody else/I’m telling you, telling you, telling you, telling you all she taught me how to love myself
Treat Myself (2020)
Trainor's third pop/doowop/funk/R&B album was released January 31st, 2020 by Epic when she was 26 years old. With a run time of 46:28, the album had three singles released: No Excuses (3/1/18); Wave (9/27/19); and Nice to Meet Ya (1/31/20). Treat Myself peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200. This album is alright, but I didn't like it as much as her first two. The energy wasn't as fun overall, but there's still some good moments to listen to. Here's the Top 3 for this one:
Track 7: Lie To Me (written by M. Trainor, R. Trainor, J. Trainor)
This one has a fun groove to it. It didn't chart and wasn't released on the radio, but it's a fun one to move around to.
I want your sympathy, I want your hands on me/I wish you thought differently, I wish you could feel like me, ah, like me, ah/So why, why don't you love me back, no, don't do me like that/I know I don’t deserve you, I know I always hurt you, but the least you could do is/Lie to me, tell me that you love me/And you’d die for me, die for me, oh/Cry for me, say you can’t go on without me/I can’t take the truth anymore, so lie/I don’t want the truth, I want you
Track 11: Evil Twin (written by M. Trainor, T. Johnson, J. Kear, E. Snoreck)
This one is a blast. It's silly, tongue-in-cheek, and has a catchy melody making it easy to sing along to.
It wasn’t me, she started it, I said just one, then she got lit/She takes control, she’s in my head making me make my bad decisions, but I’m innocent/Two Tylenol for what she did, so dehydrated, that crazy bitch/I’ve had enough, so over it, making me make my bad decisions, but I’m innocent/I get lost in the background, she’s the star of the show/Gotta deal with her problems when she lose control/I know I can’t tame her, I don ’t even try/So let me apologize/That’s my evil twin, no, it ain’t my fault/That's my evil twin, it wasn't me at all/Don’t be mad at me, I can’t help that she’s a wild one, baby/Wild one, baby/That’s my evil twin/That's my evil twin
Track 14: No Excuses (written by M. Trainor, J. Hindlin, A. Wells)
This is probably my favorite Meghan Trainor song so far. I love the beat, and the lyrics feel super relatable.
What you sipping on that got you talking crazy/Looking at me sideways, always coming at me/Why you, why you acting hard when you’re just a baby/Boy, I keep it real with you, but you’re tryna play me/Have you lost your mind/Open up your eyes/Someone else, you must have confused me, confused me with/Someone else, you must have confused me, confused me with/Someone else, there ain't no excuses, excuses, babe/Someone else, your mama raised you better than that, huh
Takin' It Back (2022)
Trainor's fourth doowop/bubblegum pop album was released October 21st, 2022 by Epic when she was 28 years old. With a run time of 45:36, the album had two singles released: Bad for Me (6/24/22) and Made You Look (10/31/22). Takin' It Back peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200. This album was fun, but still lacked the "magic" I felt on the first two albums. I did enjoy it more than Treat Myself, and there were some fun collaborations here as well. Here's my Top 3 here:
Track 2: Made You Look (written by M. Trainor, F. Vindver, S. Douglas)
This cheeky song is honestly a blast, with fun lyrics and a boppy beat. It peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #11.
I’ll make you double take soon as you walk away/Call up your chiropractor just in case your neck break/Ooh, tell me whatcha, whatcha, whatcha gonna do, ooh/‘Cause I’m about to make a scene, double up that sunscreen/I’m ‘bout to turn the heat up, gonna make your glasses steam/Ooh, tell me whatcha, whatcha, whatcha gonna do, ooh/When I do my walk, walk, I can guarantee your jaw will drop, drop/‘Cause they don’t make a lot of what I got, got, ladies if you feel me, this your bop, bop, bop, bop/I could have my Gucci on, I could wear my Louis Vuitton/But even with nothing on, bet I made you look/Yeah, I look good in my Versace dress, but I’m hotter when my morning hair’s a mess/‘Cause even with my hoodie on, bet I made you look
Track 4: Don't I Make It Look Easy (written by M. McDonald, F. Vindver, M. Trainor)
I really like the energy on this song, and the lyrics feel super relatable. It didn't chart, but don't sleep on it.
I just posted a picture, read all the comments/Only the good ones if I’m being honest, uh huh/I might have spent an hour on it/You won’t ever see me cry/‘Cause I’ve got a filter for every single lie/Don’t I make it look easy, baby, when I do what I do/Don’t I make it look easy, baby, well, I’m fooling you/Don’t I make it look easy, baby, I’m good at keeping my cool/Don’t I make it look easy, baby, well I’m fooling you
Track 7: Superwoman (written by M. Trainor, D. Wilson)
I don't usually gravitate towards Trainor's ballads, but this one really hits for me. It didn't chart either, but if you're a Millennial mom like she and I are, you'll probably appreciate it, too.
I wanted to get on stage and sing for you/I wanted to start a family/I wanted to buy a house in Malibu/But there’s only one of me/And I can’t do it all/Call me Superwoman, but I know I'm not that strong/Because I cry more than a little/And if I’m Superwoman, I’m flying in the rain/And I wonder will it ever get old/Being a Superwoman, smiling through the pain/Even heroes cry, so why can’t I/Why can’t I
Timeless (2024)
Trainor's fifth doowop/bubblegum pop album was released June 7th, 2024 by Epic when she was 30 years old. With a run time of 44:20, the album had three singles released: Been Like This (3/14/24), To the Moon (5/3/24), and Whoops (6/24/24). Timeless peaked at #27 on the Billboard 200. I didn't like this album too much when I first listened to it a year and a half ago, but I enjoyed it a little more this time around. It does unfortunately feel like more of the same from her, but hey, she has a formula that works for her and she sticks with it. Here's my final Top 3 for today:
Track 2: Criminals (written by M. Trainor, J. Kear, T. Johnson)
This bop is one I decided I liked upon a second listen. It peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #100.
Lock me up ‘cause I’ve been bad, and I know I’ll do it again/You’re the best I ever had, I’m guilty, I confess/Blue lights, red lights, we gon' get real wild tonight/Blue lights, red lights, with you/Anything that feels this good, well, it must be illegal, it must be illegal, illegal/Anything that feels this good, well, it must be illegal, it must be illegal/So call us criminals, criminals, criminals, criminals/Call us criminals, criminals, criminals, criminals
Track 6: Whoops (written by M. Trainor, G. Boutin, G. Stone, S. Douglas)
This one is so much fun, I'm surprised it didn't catch on more. It peaked on the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart at #27.
Whoops, you messed up, ran around and then you got caught/Whoops, you messed up, now you crying about what you lost/You did me dirty, hope she was worth it/You say you’re sorry, but I think what you really mean is whoops/We had a good thing with cute-ass nicknames/Guess our forever turned into never/And she got ‘bout half of my looks with no class/Now you say come back, but I think what you really mean is
Track 12: Rollin' (written by M. Trainor, F. Vindver, J. Hindlin)
This is so reminiscent of NO that I'm shocked it wasn't its own single. Oh well, it's a vibe for sure.
Don’t you see my eyes rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling/Yeah, I keep my eyes rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling/Get out my ear, you sound like a fool, got no idea who you talking to/Don’t you see my eyes rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling/Another day, another man tryna a mansplain something/I see his lips move, but they ain’t saying nothing, nah/No, they ain’t saying notching, nah/And when a guy goes off, he busy, but when a girl pops off, she’s bitchy/And if it makes no sense, then you get it, this one is for the girls out there with opinions/Yeah, if you gotta fella saying he can do it better/Go on and tell him, tell him
I hope you had fun checking out this diva and her music with me today. Happy listening, and see ya'll next week!
