2024, for me, has been one of the wildest rides so far. In addition to the usual insanity we can expect of the world, I became a parent for the first time, which is its own form of crazy to be sure. Music, though, I think has been better than some more recent years, with highly anticipated releases, awesome surprises, and, yes, some that were just plain underwhelming. Live music is delivering in wonderful ways, too. While I've been adjusting to my life's new normal, music has held my hand the entire way, and I'm so excited to share my thoughts with you on the music I thoroughly enjoyed. Without further ado, here are my year-end post ground rules:
1. No singles released in 2024 just for time’s sake – only full albums and EPs.
2. The songs picked from each album are based on my personal opinions alone. There's no set number for these albums either like there is with a Diva Spotlight; it's just whatever songs grab my attention or punch me in my feelings. I encourage everyone to listen to the full album if you’re interested, because they’re pretty great and your opinions are likely to differ from mine!
3. I will point out which song is my favorite from each album and give honorable mentions to the others that I really enjoyed - no lyrics though, this post is always long enough without them.
3. These albums and EPs are in chronological release order, not ordered by my personal preference.
4. I had to listen to and like at least one song off of an album or EP released in 2024 for me to want to write about it, so if an album you loved didn't make it, don't take it personally.
Quickly though, here's my Not My Cup of Tea 2024 List:
-Penith (Lil Dicky)
-COMING HOME (Usher)
-This Is Me...Now (Jennifer Lopez)
-Moon Healer (Job for a Cowboy)
-Djesse Vol. 4 (Jacob Collier)
-Invincible Shield (Judas Priest)
-Eternal Sunshine (Ariana Grande)
-Not Now I'm Busy (Joyner Lucas)
-Found Heaven (Conan Gray)

-Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith, and Fables (Dolly Parton & Family)
-Bouquet (Gwen Stefani) -Shawn (Shawn Mendes)
INSANO - Kid Cudi (released 1/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: WOW with A$AP Rocky (written by S. Mescdi, R. Mayers, P. Irizarry, O. Omishore, C. Taylor)
-Honorable Mentions: ELECTROWAVEBABY (written by S. Mescudi, B. Fort, J. Berggren, J. Berggren, M. Berggren, U. Ekberg, J. Kouame); A TALE OF A KNIGHT (written by K. Rubin, T. Levesque, S. Mescudi, K. Torres, I. De Boni, C. Dade, J. Kouame, M. Mule)
I hadn't listened to Kid Cudi in a hot minute, and I ended up really enjoying parts of this album. Cudi's a very talented artist and producer, and the songs I downloaded to my library were, I think, good examples of that. It's definitely hip hop, so if that's not your favorite proceed with caution, but the beats, melodies, and rhythms were just interesting to me. INSANO includes 21 songs, runs about 64 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
Saviors - Green Day (released 1/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: Corvette Summer (written by B. Armstrong, M. Dirnt, F. Wright)
-Honorable Mentions: The American Dream Is Killing Me (written by B. Armstrong, M. Dirnt, F. Wright); One Eyed Bastard (written by B. Armstrong, M. Dirnt, F. Wright); 1981 (written by B. Armstrong, M. Dirnt, F. Wright); Goodnight Adeline (written by B. Armstrong, M. Dirnt, F. Wright)
There have been several popular bands from my youth that have released new music the last two or three years, and I'm pleased to report that Green Day's newest album was a winner for me. It feels new for 2024 while still sounding and feeling like Green Day, and there's a plethora of bangers on this track list. It's more alt rock than some of their older stuff, sure, but it's also still got those punk sounds throughout that made them who they are. Savior includes 15 songs, runs about 46 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Cigarettes in Bed - Indio Downey (released 1/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: Plastic Rainbow (written by I. Downey)
-Honorable Mentions: Cigarettes in Bed (written by I. Downey, J. Bell, J. Miller); September (written by R. Downey); The Other Side (written by I. Downey, A. Hamilton, J. Bell, J. Miller)
Yes, I willingly helped feed into the nepotism here because I initially listened to this when I saw Robert Downey, Jr.'s son was releasing an EP and I was curious. I'm pleased to say I genuinely enjoyed it, and think I probably would have even if Downey wasn't the son of one of my favorite actors. It's giving some light Nirvana vibes, more alt than grunge but it's still there and I think he pulls it off well. Cigarettes in Bed includes 5 songs, runs about 16 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative EP by Apple Music.
Love and Titanium - Jeremy Renner (released 1/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: The River (written by J. Renner, J. Mater, J. Bonilla, L. James, B. Sammons)
-Honorable Mentions: Garden of Stone (written by J. Renner, W. Afanasieff)
I've made sure to listen to any music Jeremy Renner puts out since 2020 when I became aware of this part of his career, and definitely wanted to see what came out of this insane portion of his life post accident. While I still haven't had a reaction as strong as I did to 2020's The Medicine, there were still some good moments on this one. Renner has a good voice for this light rock sound he has going on, and there's always at least one banger per album. Love and Titanium includes 7 songs, runs about 25 minutes in length, and is labeled as a rock album by Apple Music.
Somewhere Down The Road - Josh Abbott Band (released 1/26/2024)
-Favorite Song: Astronaut (written by E. Dylan, R. Montana, D. Williams)
-Honorable Mentions: What Were You Thinking (written by J. Abbott); She'll Always Be (written by J. Abbott, N. Medley, G. Gilbert)
Josh Abbott was a big deal in my college days because he played our college town constantly, but that was during my country burnout phase and I admittedly didn't really listen to him much. I gave his newest album a try and liked it well enough; it sounds just as Texas country as I would expect, but not annoyingly so. It's good honkytonk dancing music, and is also great for just driving around in the car. Somewhere Down The Road includes 12 songs, runs about 35 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Weird Faith - Madi Diaz (released 2/9/2024)
-Favorite Song: Same Risk (written by M. Diaz-Svalgard, C. Hickey, S. Jones)
-Honorable Mentions: Girlfriend (written by M. Diaz-Svalgard, K. Snyder); Don't Do Me Good with Kacey Musgraves (written by M. Diaz-Svalgard, A. Wadge); For Months Now (M. Diaz-Svalgard, J. Floyd, S. Wrabel)
Madi Diaz was a great find for me from the NPR podcast All Songs Considered, and I was glad to have a new album of hers to listen to. She has such a hopeful yet melancholy vibe to her songwriting, and I really love it paired with her voice that feels like a mix of Phoebe Bridgers and Katie Gavin but also entirely unique and her own. It's a more chill album, and a good one to just sit back and soak in. Weird Faith includes 12 songs, runs about 41 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Back Into The Dream - Elephant Stone (released 2/23/2024)
-Favorite Song: Godstar (written by R. Dhir)
-Honorable Mentions: The Spark (written by R. Dhir)
I first found out about Elephant Stone earlier this year when looking for interesting new albums on Wikipedia of all places, and admittedly chose them because their band name has elephant in it. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but a sound reminiscent of George Harrison's solo work wasn't it. It wasn't the most gripping album for me, but I grabbed a couple of songs off of it that were full of color and just had cool vibes. Back Into The Dream includes 10 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as an indie pop album by Apple Music.
Sunday, Vol. 1 (Live) - Mosaic MSC (released 2/23/2024)
-Favorite Song: Everything At Your Feet (Live at Mosaic, Los Angeles, 2023) (written by A. Figueroa, A. Weits, M. Goss, C. Pimentel)
-Honorable Mentions: Come Fill Me Up (Live at Mosaic, Los Angeles, 2023) (written by R. Aholoka, M. Goss, C. Pimentel, T. Armstrong)
It's always an exciting experience to check out new music from Mosaic MSC. Their energy during their worship is contagious even when listening to recordings, and their live stuff is usually pretty great. I wasn't drawn to too many songs on this one, but the few I was are beautiful moments of musical worship. Sunday, Vol. 1 (Live) includes 5 songs, runs about 30 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
Gangbusters Melody Club - Caravan Palace (released 3/1/2024)
-Favorite Song: MAD (written by A. De Bosredon, Z. Colotis, C. Delaporte, S. Fernandez Velasco)
-Honorable Mentions: 81 Special (written by A. De Bosredon, Z. Colotis, C. Delaporte); Raccoons (written by A. De Bosredon, Z. Colotis, C. Delaporte); Reverse (written by A. De Bosredon, C. Delaporte, Z. Colotis, S. Fernandez Velasco); Spirits (written by A. De Bosredon, Z. Colotis, C. Delaporte); Villa Rose (written by A. De Bosredon, C. Delaporte)
Being a big Caravan Palace fan, this was one of my most anticipated albums of 2024 and it did not disappoint. This album goes back towards their original sound that initially captured my attention while still sounding delightfully fresh and new. This group is insanely talented, and I can happily confirm they're as incredible live as they are recorded. Gangbusters Melody Club includes 12 songs, runs about 43 minutes in length, and is labeled as a dance album by Apple Music.
Call on Heaven (Live) - Passion (released 3/1/2024)
-Favorite Song: Grave Robber (Live From Passion 2024) with Crowder (written by D. Crowder)
-Honorable Mentions: Fall Like Rain (Live From Passion 2024) with Kari Jobe & Rachel Halbach (written by B. Younker, B. Benjamin-Korporaal, B. Maddox, Z. Zachary)
I'm always interested in checking out what music comes out of Passion each year. This year didn't have a huge amount of songs that grabbed me, but the couple that did I felt were really wonderful. Live recordings of worship music just hit different, and I love soaking in the energy as I worship along. Call on Heaven (Live) includes 14 songs, runs about 95 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
Made For More (Live) - Josh Baldwin (released 3/1/2024)
-Favorite Song: Made For More (Live) ft. Jenn Johnson (written by J. Baldwin, J. Early, J. Smith, B. Wiggins)
-Honorable Mentions: My Help (Live) (written by J. Baldwin, C. D'Clario, M. Harris, Z. Rowe); Crowns Down (Live) (written by J. Baldwin, C. D'Clario, M. Harris, Z. Rowe)
I love Josh Baldwin, both as a solo artist and his collaborations with Bethel Music. He has such a satisfying voice and clearly has a heart for worship that can be felt through his music. Any time he puts out new music I plan on listening to it, and I was so pleased with this live album. Made For More (Live) includes 8 songs, runs about 43 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
Everything I Thought It Was - Justin Timberlake (released 3/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Paradise ft. *NSYNC (written by J. Timberlake, A. López, F. Vindver, T. Mosley, K. Dixon)
-Honorable Mentions: No Angels (written by J. Timberlake, A. López, F. Vindver, A. Wiles); Drown (written by J. Timberlake, L. Bell, A. Allen, K. Dixon, H. Walter); Liar ft. Fireboy DML (written by J. Timberlake, F. Hills, K. Dixon, A. Adefolahan, A. Boggs, A. Allen); Selfish (written by J. Timberlake, L. Bell, T. Thomas, A. Allen, H. Walter)
An *NSYNC reunion was not on my 2024 bingo card, but even this member of Team Backstreet was excited to see it. I'll usually check out new music from JT even though I'm not a superfan since he can be relied on to produce a few bangers per album, and I was right in this case. I liked this vibe more than Man of the Woods just because it sounds more like him. Everything I Thought It Was includes 18 songs, runs about 77 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Deeper Well: Deeper into the Well - Kacey Musgraves (released 3/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Architect (written by K. Musgraves, S. McAnally, J. Osborne)
-Honorable Mentions: Cardinal (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk); Deeper Well (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk); Sway (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuck, T. English); Dinner with Friends (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk); Jade Green (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk); Lonely Millionaire (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk, D. Route, I. Welch, J. Barnett, J. Welch, M. Whitney, N. Barnett, T. Jones); Little Sister (written by K. Musgraves, I. Fitchuk, N. Hemby, T. English); Superbloom ft. Leon Bridges (written by K. Musgraves, D Tashian, I. Fitchuk, J. Bhasker); Irish Goodbye (written by K. Musgraves, D. Tashian, I. Fitchuk)
Kacey is an all-time fave for me, so naturally her newest album was another most anticipated album for me. She's returned to a sound more similar to what she had on Golden Hour, but make no mistake, nothing here sounds recycled. Her songwriting, as always, is outstanding, and listening to her just flat out makes me happy. Deeper Well: Deeper into the Well includes 21 songs and 3 music videos, runs about 74 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Mahal - Glass Beams (released 3/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Snake Oil (written by Glass Beams)
-Honorable Mentions: Mahal (written by Glass Beams)
Glass Beams was a cool new find this year after my husband came across them on Instagram. They have a sound similar to Khruangbin if you're into them, which I am, so if you enjoy that style of music you probably will like them as well. It's very meditative and sparkly (just listen to it, you'll get what I mean). Mahal includes 5 songs, runs about 19 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative EP by Apple Music.
Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran - Shakira (released 3/22/2024)
-Favorite Song: Nassau (written by M. Masis, A. Melendez, C. Juarbe, K. Cruz, T. Parks, A. Long, D. Blau, S. Mebarak)
-Honorable Mentions: Puntería with Cardi B (written by C. Juarbe, D. Stewart, B. Cephus, C. Aguila, J. Espinell, M. Dorado, D. Blau, S. Mebarak, S. Rodriguez); Cohete with Rauw Alejandro (written by D. Sprecher, F. Vindver, M. Cáceres, V. del Barco, A. Collins, J. Pizarro, L. González, R. Ruiz, S. Mebarak); Cómo Dónde y Cuándo (written by S. Primera, R. Rodrigez, D. Rondon, A. Melendez, S. Mebarak); Acróstico (Milan + Sasha) (written by K. Moreno, L. Palacios, L. Ochoa, K. Cruz, S. Mebarak)
Shakira is usually getting a listen from me with new music, and I was definitely interested in what would come out of her "breakup album." It had some good stuff on it to be sure, and even though I'm not a Spanish speaker I still enjoyed listening despite not understanding the lyrics. It's a good pop album that she's proven time and time again that she can successfully perform. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran includes 17 songs, runs about 51 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop Latino album by Apple Music.
COWBOY CARTER - Beyoncé (released 3/29/2024)
-Favorite Song: PROTECTOR with Rumi Carter (written by B. Carter, R. Beatty, J. Rochon, C. Ochs)
-Honorable Mentions: BLACKBIIRD with Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, & Reyna Roberts (written by P. McCartney, J. Lennon); 16 CARRIAGES (written by B. Carter, D. Hamelin, A. Boggs, R. Saadiq); TEXAS HOLD 'EM (written by B. Carter, E. Boland, R. Saadiq, N. Ferraro, M. Bülow, B. Bates); JOLENE (written by D. Parton); DAUGHTER (written by B. Carter, C. Ochs, S. Maartensson, T. Gesteelde-Diamant, D. Dixie, S. Carter); LEVII'S JEANS with Post Malone (written by B. Carter, N. Rodgers, A. Post, T. Gesteelde-Diamant, S. Carter); YA YA (written by B. Carter, H. Edwards, T. Gesteelde-Diamant, O. Rodigan, K. Munk-Hansen, A. Marinho, L. Hazlewood, B. Wilson, M. Love, S. Carter); TYRANT with Dolly Parton (written by B. Carter, C. Ochs, T. Gesteelde-Diamant, D. Doman, D. Redenczki, E. Chikwendu)
I am a lifelong country music fan and a woman who's very vocal about her lukewarm feelings towards Beyoncé, but I actually had a pretty good time with this one overall. Now listen to me before you go grab your pitchforks: I do not for one second consider this a country album, but Bey is Texas born and raised and has said multiple times in her career how much she loves and respects country music, so I am prepared to call this "heavily country inspired." It's not going to be for everyone, but don't form your whole opinion on the nauseatingly overplayed first 15 seconds of TEXAS HOLD 'EM. COWBOY CARTER includes 27 songs, runs about 79 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Evolution - Sheryl Crow (released 3/29/2024)
-Favorite Song: Love Life (written by S. Crow, M. Elizondo, E. Weisband)
Sheryl Crow is a tried and true chill listening experience, so I tried out her newest release to see what was up. While I didn't vibe with the album as a whole, it's definitely Sheryl Crow through and through. I don't really agree with its singer-songwriter classification, but it's got some nice, funky soft rock moments throughout. Evolution includes 9 songs, runs about 36 minutes in length, and is labeled as a singer/songwriter album by Apple Music.
A LA SALA - Khruangbin (released 4/5/2024)
-Favorite Song: Pon Pón (written by M. Speer, L. Lee, D. Johnson)
-Honorable Mentions: May Ninth (written by M. Speer, L. Lee, D. Johnson); Ada Jean (written by M. Speer, L. Lee, D. Johnson); A Love International (written by M. Speer, L. Lee, D. Johnson); Les Petits Gris (written by M. Speer, L. Lee, D. Johnson)
My cousin introduced me to Khruangbin a few years ago and I really dug their sound, so I was absolutely excited to check out their April release. This trio is so crazy talented, and their music is chill, creative, and always interesting. I've heard a decent amount of music that sounds similar, but I'm always brought back here and I'm definitely okay with it. A LA SALA includes 12 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Feel Alright - Avi Kaplan (released 4/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: Uncanny Valley (written by A. Kaplan, A. Petroff, H. Brill)
-Honorable Mentions: Feel Alright (written by A. Kaplan, M. Nocny)
I decided years ago that any solo projects Avi Kaplan released would get listened to by me, so here we are. This one wasn't my favorite overall, feeling less singer/songwriter than his other projects, but vocally Kaplan sounds as great as ever. This is more alt pop than he's done in a while, but there's cool moments here to be sure. Feel Alright includes 5 songs, runs about 19 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative EP by Apple Music.
I'M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! - girl in red (released 4/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: DOING IT AGAIN BABY (written by M. Ulven, M. Tellez)
-Honorable Mentions: I'm Back (written by M. Ulven, M. Tellez); Ugly Side (written by M. Ulven, M. Tellez)
My husband had mentioned girl in red to me a while ago, but my official intro to her, naturally, came from one of my students at work wanting to work on one of her songs. I figured I'd try out her new album this year, and I liked it well enough. It was more or less what I would expect from a younger female alt pop artist with a big Gen Z fanbase, but that doesn't at all mean it's bad. I'M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! includes 10 songs, runs about 28 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY - Taylor Swift (released 4/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Black Dog (written by T. Swift)
-Honorable Mentions: Fortnight ft. Post Malone (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff, A. Post); Down Bad (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff); So Long, London (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff); But Daddy I Love Him (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); Florida!!! ft. Florence + the Machine (written by T. Swift, F. Welch); Guilty as Sin? (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff); Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? (written by T. Swift); I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff); I Can Do It With a Broken Heart (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff); Clara Bow (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); The Albatross (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); How Did It End? (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); So High School (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); I Hate It Here (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); thanK you aIMee (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); I Look in People's Windows (written by T. Swift, J. Antonoff, P. Berger); The Prophecy (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); Cassandra (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); Peter (written by T. Swift); The Bolter (written by T. Swift, A. Dessner); The Manuscript (written by T. Swift)
The sound I emitted when Taylor announced a new album for 2024 was, of course, high pitched and ridiculous, but even I wasn't prepared to wake up April 19th to this 5 word text from my brother: "31 new Taylor Swift songs." I know this latest installment has been somewhat divisive in the Swiftie community, but through the months since its release I really do like this feelings dump/stream of consciousness album a lot. If you're well-versed in the Eras, my official ruling is TTPD is Speak Now lyricism with Midnights instrumentation, while The Anthology is Red lyricism with Folklore instrumentation. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY includes 31 songs, runs about 123 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence - The Wiggles & Lenny Pearce (released 4/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Monkey Dance (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by M. Cook, J. Field, J. Fatt, A. Field, G. Page)
-Honorable Mentions: Rock-a-Bye Your Bear (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by A. Field, G. Page, J. Fatt, M. Cook); Hot Potato (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by G. Page, A. Field, J. Fatt, M. Cook, J. Field); Henry the Octopus (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by J. Fatt, M. Cook, A. Field, G. Page); Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by A. Field, G. Page, J. Fatt, M. Cook); Fruit Salad (The Wiggles Sound System Remix) (written by G. Page, A. Field, J. Fatt, M. Cook)
I'm officially a mom now, so that means children's music will be a bit more prevalent here than before, and where better to start than The Wiggles? I admittedly thought this was a joke when my brother sent it to me, but my goodness does this slap. It put a cool spin on these nostalgic songs that I pretended to think were dumb when I was watching with my much younger brother twenty years ago but in reality they've always been awesome. The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence includes 14 songs, runs about 23 minutes in length, and is labeled as a children's music album by Apple Music.
All Born Screaming - St. Vincent (released 4/26/2024)
-Favorite Song: Violent Times (written by A. Clark)
-Honorable Mentions: Reckless (written by A. Clark); Broken Man (written by A. Clark); Big Time Nothing (written by A. Clark, C. Le Bon); Sweetest Fruit (written by A. Clark)
My first intro to St. Vincent was Roslyn, her duet with Bon Iver that was on the soundtrack for New Moon, which is still a vibe today. Now that I'm older and more into alt rock every year, I was intrigued by her new release and was definitely not disappointed. She's stupidly talented, and even if her music doesn't hit for you every time, you can't ever truly call it boring. All Born Screaming includes 10 songs, runs about 41 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Radical Optimism - Dua Lipa (released 5/3/2024)
-Favorite Song: Houdini (written by D. Lipa, C. Ailin, D. Harle, K. Parker, T. Jesso)
-Honorable Mentions: These Walls (written by D. Lipa, A. Wyatt, B. Walsh, C. Ailin, D. Harle); French Exit (written by D. Lipa, C. Ailin, D. Harle, K. Parker, T. Jesso); Falling Forever (written by D. Lipa, A. Tamposi, C. Ailin, D. Harle, E. Warren, I. Kirkpatrick); Maria (written by D. Lipa, A. Wyatt, C. Ailin, D. Harle, J. Michaels)
You might remember this album from my Dua Lipa Diva Spotlight earlier this year. It's still a fun bop of an album, and definitely what I have come to expect from her music. All the songs are very dancey and light, usually making for a good time. Radical Optimism includes 11 songs, runs about 37 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Stream - Fergus McCreadie (released 5/3/2024)
-Favorite Song: Stony Gate (written by F. McCreadie)
-Honorable Mentions: Driftwood (written by F. McCreadie); Snowcap (written by F. McCreadie)
My husband sent this album my way after it was recommended to him, and I'm so glad he did. This is a really lovely piano jazz album, both classical and contemporary, and full of beauty, light, and color. It's all instrumental, making it great for relaxing and/or meditating. Stream includes 9 songs, runs about 59 minutes in length, and is labeled as a contemporary jazz album by Apple Music.
Reasonable Woman - Sia (released 5/3/2024)
-Favorite Song: Gimme Love (written by S. Furler, J. Shatkin)
-Honorable Mentions: Immortal Queen ft. Chaka Khan (written by Y. Stevens, G. Kurstin, S. Furler); Rock and Balloon (written by S. Furler, J. Shatkin)
New music from Sia is always going to catch my attention, regardless of her becoming more eccentric by the year. This album wasn't exactly what I'd call revolutionary, but it had some good moments on it. It sounds very similar to her previous stuff, but like a lot of pop artists, she has a proven formula that she isn't straying from and that's fine for her. Reasonable Woman includes 15 songs, runs about 50 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Atavista - Childish Gambino (released 5/13/2024)
-Favorite Song: Little Foot Big Foot ft. Young Nudy (written by D. Glover, S. Sugarman, D. Natche, Q. Thomas, E. Weisfeld, I. Henderson, J. Francies, C. Kirk)
-Honorable Mentions: Atavista (written by D. Glover, L. Göransson); Time ft. Ariana Grande (written by A. Grande, C. Hodge, D. Glover, D. Natche, L. Göransson, S. Aarons, R. Mackin, E. Weisfeld); Human Sacrifice (written by D. Glover, D. Natche, E. Froese, J. Schmoelling, C. Franke, E. Weisfeld)
When the music video for Little Foot Big Foot dropped on YouTube, I knew I'd be checking this album out. I also got to learn a little about the drama surrounding the leaking of this album, which sucks but it always makes for good reading. I enjoyed this album more than I expected to honestly, just since it's usually hit or miss with rap for me. Atavista includes 11 songs, runs about 50 minutes in length, and is labeled as a rap album by Apple Music.
HIT ME HARD AND SOFT - Billie Eilish (released 5/17/2024)
-Favorite Song: L'AMOUR DE MA VIE (written by B. O'Connell, F. O'Connell)
-Honorable Mentions: SKINNY (written by B. O'Connell, F. O'Connell); CHIHIRO (written by B. O'Connell, F. O'Connell); BIRDS OF A FEATHER (written by B. O'Connell, F. O'Connell)
This was another very highly anticipated album for me this year, especially with how much I enjoyed Eilish's previous two albums. While this album was good, it just didn't hit me the same way her older stuff has, which was admittedly a tad disappointing. The songs tend to take a total 180 in every possible way right at about the halfway mark on every single track, which got annoying for me because I would really be digging the vibe and then suddenly it was like listeneing to a brand new song way too abruptly. HIT ME HARD AND SOFT includes 11 songs, runs about 44 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Neon Pill - Cage the Elephant (released 5/17/2024)
-Favorite Song: HiFi (True Light) (written by M. Shultz, B. Shultz, J. Champion, D. Tichenor, N. Bockrath, M. Minster)
-Honorable Mentions: Rainbow (written by M. Shultz, B. Shultz, J. Champion, D. Tichenor, N. Bockrath, M. Minster); Neon Pill (written by V. Holiday, M. Shultz, B. Shultz, J. Champion, D. Tichenor, N. Bockrath, M. Minster); Ball and Chain (written by M. Shultz, B. Shultz, J. Champion, D. Tichenor, N. Bockrath, M. Minster)
I had two separate conversations about the fact that Cage the Elephant was releasing new music this year, so I took that as a sign to give it a listen. I'd heard of them in passing, but this was my first actual listening experience for their music and I ended up enjoying it. It's definitely alt rock, but given the overall theme of my new music listening this year that's pretty on brand. Neon Pill includes 12 songs, runs about 39 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Clancy - twenty one pilots (released 5/17/2024)
-Favorite Song: Routines In The Night (written by J. Torrey, P. Meany, T. Joseph)
-Honorable Mentions: Next Semester (written by T. Joseph); Vignette (written by P. Meany, T. Joseph); Snap Back (written by P. Meany, T. Joseph); At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb (written by T. Joseph); Paladin Strait (written by P. Meany, T. Joseph)
This was another highly anticipated album for me this year, and because it's twenty one pilots I just didn't quite know what to expect soundwise. I definitely wasn't disappointed; it felt like a mix of several of their previous albums (self-titled, Screen, and Trench in my opinion) while still having its own, unique sound. These guys know what they're doing, and they pretty much always do it exceedingly well. Clancy includes 13 songs, runs about 47 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS (Z SIDES) - ZAYN (released 5/17/2024)
-Favorite Song: Dreamin (written by D. Zaidenstadt, Z. Malik)
-Honorable Mentions: My Woman (written by D. Zaidenstadt, Z. Malik); Stardust (written by G. Stone, S. Douglas, C. Smith, J . Alan); False Starts (written by R. McDonald, C. Lang, D. Wilson)
I've never been a One Directioner, and Zayn has always bothered me with his attitude, but I figured I'd give this a chance, especially since I listened to Harry Styles and Niall Horan's albums in recent years. I was actually pleasantly surprised and really dug the overall vibe here. Some points felt very reminiscent of Paolo Nutini's style, which I love, and the songs had really neat grooves. ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS (Z SIDES) includes 20 songs, runs about 67 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Night Reign - Arooj Aftab (released 5/31/2024)
-Favorite Song: Bolo Na ft. Moor Mother & Joel Ross (written by A. Aftab, C. Ayewa)
My husband found this album somehow and sent it over to me because of how much he enjoyed it. I was definitely intrigued, though it didn't grip me quite as much as it did him. Classifying this as a jazz album feels a little odd to me, because it doesn't feel like jazz to me at all but I can't quite put my finger on what genre I would consider it. Night Reign includes 9 songs, runs about 49 minutes in length, and is labeled as a jazz album by Apple Music.
Chaos Angel - Maya Hawke (released 5/31/2024)
-Favorite Song: Better (written by M. Hawke, C. Hutson) -Honorable Mentions: Black Ice (written by M. Hawke, C. Hutson, L. Hawke, J. Harris); Missing Out (written by M. Hawke, L. Hawke, B. Davis, W. Graefe, B. Kearney); Okay (written by M. Hawke, W. Graefe, B. Davis, B. Kearney); Big Idea (written by M. Hawke)
Maya Hawke is a nepo baby who's definitely got my attention because she's just adorable as well as genuinely talented. I thoroughly enjoyed her previous album Moss, and this one was just as good in my opinion. Her indie singer/songwriter style works great with her voice, and her lyrics are interesting to listen to. Chaos Angel includes 10 songs, runs about 36 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Submarine - The Marías (released 5/31/2024)
-Favorite Song: Paranoia (written by E. James, J. Perlman, J. Conway, M. Zardoya)
-Honorable Mentions: Echo (written by J. Conway, M. Zardoya); Ay No Puedo (written by D. Zounes, J. Conway, M. Zardoya); If Only (written by J. Conway, K. Brennan, M. Zardoya, T. Waits)
I'd heard of The Marías in passing but had never listened to them until my husband found this album and recommended it to me. I'm not sure why I expected an aggressively poppy album, but this is definitely not that at all. It's a very chill, relaxing alt album with a somewhat dreamy filter over the songs, and I really liked it. Submarine includes 14 songs, runs about 45 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
The Border - Willie Nelson (released 5/31/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Border (written by R. Crowell, A. Shamblin)
-Honorable Mentions: What If I'm Out Of My Mind (written by W. Nelson, B. Carson); Made In Texas (written by S. Camp, M. Holmes)
Willie's music has been present in my life since before I was born, so checking out his new music is just natural for me. This album felt so comfortable to me, like I'd heard these songs my whole life even though I know they're new. He is a master at musical storytelling, and each song weaves a different tale not only in the lyrics but through the instrumentation as well. The Border includes 10 songs, runs about 35 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
What Happened To The Heart? - AURORA (released 6/7/2024)
-Favorite Song: Some Type Of Skin (written by A. Aksnes, C. Greatti, The Earth)
-Honorable Mentions: Your Blood (written by A. Aksnes, C. Greatti, The Earth); Dreams (written by A. Aksnes, V. Junker, The Earth)
I've been an Aurora fan for a couple of years now, so I was glad to see she was dropping a new album this year. This album was alright, but the much poppier sound here wasn't really what I've come to expect from her. There was a little less of her cool, dreamy quality here and more upbeat stuff, which isn't at all bad, but ranks this album a little lowewr than her previous ones for me. What Happened To The Heart? includes 16 songs, runs about 62 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Timeless (Deluxe) - Meghan Trainor (released 6/7/2024)
-Favorite Song: Whoops (written by M. Trainor, G. Stone, S. Douglas, G. Boutin)
-Honorable Mentions: Rollin' (written by M. Trainor, F. Vindver, J. Hindlin)
Meghan Trainor may annoy me as a person, but I can usually find a bop or two on each of her albums. She's another artist who sticks pretty faithfully to a specific formula in her music, but it works for her and her fans even if it doesn't regularly hit for me. I wouldn't say this sounds exactly like her old stuff, but it is fairly familiar, especially from her previous album. Timeless (Deluxe) includes 20 songs, runs about 55 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Sunday, Vol. 2 (Live) - Mosaic MSC (released 6/7/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Middle of It All (Live at Mosaic, Los Angeles, 2023) (written by R. Aholoka, C. Dennard, M. Goss, C. Pimentel, A. Weits)
-Honorable Mentions: Desperate (Live at Mosaic, Los Angeles, 2023) (written by A. Figueroa, A. Weits, O. Castro, C. Pimentel)
When I see a Volume 1, I'm of course automatically on the lookout for Volume 2. Mosaic again proves their strength in their live performances, and this installment was as good to me as the sister EP earlier in the year. This one is more upbeat songs, which is fun, and nothing felt too long or self-important. Sunday, Vol. 2 (Live) includes 5 songs, runs about 26 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
Fathers & Sons - Luke Combs (released 6/14/2024)
-Favorite Song: Remember Him That Way (written by L. Combs, J. Alexander, E. Dylan, J. Singleton)
-Honorable Mentions: Huntin' By Yourself (written by L. Combs, T. Archer, R. Fulcher, A. Palmer, M. Tyler); Whoever You Turn Out to Be (written by R. Akins, B. Stennis)
As far as current modern country goes, I'm definitely a Luke Combs fan. While I may not be a father or a son, nor do I currently have a son, I am a new parent so this album got to me a little bit. Combs has such a real, honest vibe to all of his music that feels very personal and relatable. Fathers & Sons includes 12 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
The Secret of Us - Gracie Abrams (released 6/21/2024)
-Favorite Song: Risk (written by G. Abrams, A. Hobert)
-Honorable Mentions: I Love You, I'm Sorry (written by G. Abrams, A. Dessner, A. Hobert); us. ft. Taylor Swift (written by G. Abrams, T. Swift, A. Dessner)
Gracie Abrams has captured the attention of both my adolescent students and Taylor Swift, so I figured I'd better give this album a listen. It felt to me like a more mature Olivia Rodrigo, which I dug, but also a little softer and more on the singer/songwriter side of things. I may not have gravitated toward every song, but the ones I did I really, truly enjoyed. The Secret of Us includes 13 songs, runs about 48 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
KYGO - Kygo (released 6/21/2024)
-Favorite Song: Whatever with Ava Max (written by K. Gørvell-Dahll, A. Koci, G. Estefan, T. Mitchell, P. Martin, C. Tighe, J. Shy, R. Spreckley, S. Mebarak Ripoll)
-Honorable Mentions: Healing (Shattered Heart) with Jonas Brothers (written by K. Gørvell-Dahll, C. Lehmann); Fade Away with Sandro Cavazza (written by S. Cavazza, K. Gørvell-Dahll, M. Songve)
Yeah, I sure did initially listen to this for the JoBro collab, so what? Dance music a lot of the time doesn't do it for me because I find it too repetitive for my taste, but a couple of songs on here were bangers, not gonna lie. Kygo seems like a decent guy, and he does make alright beats. KYGO includes 18 songs, runs about 64 minutes in length, and is labeled as a dance album by Apple Music.
LOOM - Imagine Dragons (released 6/28/2024)
-Favorite Song: In Your Corner (written by D. Reynolds, W. Sermon, B. McKee, R. Fredriksson, M. Larsson)
-Honorable Mentions: Don't Forget Me (written by D. Reynolds, W. Sermon, B. McKee, R. Fredriksson, M. Larsson)
I really do like Imagine Dragons, even if I wish they were a little more consistent in quality. This album didn't blow me away like Mercury did, but there were a couple of songs I enjoyed enough to download. They're still a solid alt rock band, and I'm always going to check out their new stuff. LOOM includes 10 songs, runs about 32 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
MEGAN - Megan Thee Stallion (released 6/28/2024)
-Favorite Song: Mamushi ft. Yuki Chiba (written by K. Ota, M. Pete, Y. Chiba)
-Honorable Mentions: Otaku Hot Girl (written by M. Pete, J. Banks, T. Banks); Moody Girl (written by J. Houston, M. Pete, A. Holmes, C. Martin, M. Gay)
Sue me, I like Megan Thee Stallion. She's a fellow Texan, she seems like a cool person, and from someone who struggles to connect with hip hop I find her music fun to listen to. I do like her previous album Traumazine more than this one, but there was still stuff I liked on here. MEGAN includes 18 songs, runs about 52 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
The Great American Bar Scene - Zach Bryan (released 7/4/2024)
-Favorite Song: 28 (written by Z. Bryan)
-Honorable Mentions: Mechanical Bull (written by Z. Bryan); The Great American Bar Scene (written by Z. Bryan); Oak Island (written by Z. Bryan); Purple Gas with Noeline Hofmann (written by N. Hofmann); Memphis; The Blues ft. John Moreland (written by Z. Bryan, J. Moreland); Better Days ft. John Mayer (written by Z. Bryan); Northern Thunder (written by Z. Bryan); Pink Skies ft. Watchhouse (written by Z. Bryan)
I'm loving the amount of music Zach Bryan's been putting out the last few years. He's definitely one of my favorite country guys right now, and his songwriting style always strikes a chord with me. Hot Take: he does everything Morgan Wallen is doing, just better. The Great American Bar Scene includes 19 songs, runs about 63 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
When Wind Meets Fire - Elevation Worship (released 7/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: Always On Time ft. Bella Cordero (written by S. Furtick, J. Smith, P. Barrett, L. Mooring)
-Honorable Mentions: New Thing Coming ft. Tiffany Hudson & Steven Furtick (written by S. Furtick, D. Jones, J. Holiday); Sure Been Good ft. Tiffany Hudson (written by S. Furtick, J. Holiday, C. Moore, C. Brown); Faithful Then / Faithful Now ft. Chris Brown (written by C. Brown, S. Furtick, M. Wong, B. Fielding); God Is Not Against Me ft. Jonsal Barrientes & Tiffany Hudson (written by B. Lake, S. Furtick, P. Barrett, C. Davenport); Another Stone with Chandler Moore ft. Chris Brown (written by C. Moore, C. Brown, S. Furtick, J. Holiday); All Of A Sudden ft. Tiffany Hudson & Chris Brown (written by T. Hudson, C. Brown, S. Furtick, J. Johnson)
I'm always up for new Elevation music, even if it usually takes multiple listens for me to form a good, solid opinion. There's some really good moments of worship on here, even if it doesn't quite hold a candle to LION. I do like how much Tiffany Hudson is featured on this one since I think she's a wonderful worship leader with a true heart for the Lord. When Wind Meets Fire includes 14 songs and 14 music videos, runs about 184 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) - Eminem (released 7/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: Tobey with Big Sean & BabyTron (written by C. Bennett, J. Nocito, L. Resto, M. Mathers, D. Weissmann, C. McDowell, M. Jordan, J. Johnson, S. Anderson)
-Honorable Mentions: Trouble (written by M. Mathers, F. Nassar, D. Abernathy); Brand New Dance (written by L. Resto, M. Mathers); Houdini (written by S. Miller, M. Mathers, J. Bass, K. Bell, A. Dudley, T. Horn, M. McLaren); Guilty Conscience 2 (written by L. Resto, M. Mathers, F. Nassar, D. Abernathy); Temporary with Skylar Grey (written by L. Resto, M. Mathers, H. Hafermann); Bad One with White Gold (written by L. Resto, M. Mathers, B. Yewah); Somebody Save Me with Jelly Roll (written by M. Mathers, E. Haynie, B. Levin, D. Stevens, J. Deford)
I'm liking Eminem more and more as I get older, but I was still pretty surprised that I liked this album as much as I did. Hearing him rap against himself multiple times on this album was really cool, even from someone so late to the party that she still has a hard time telling Slim Shady from Marshall Mathers. I also was NOT expecting to cry during an Eminem album, so listen for yourself to see if you can figure out which song did it (it won't be hard, trust me). The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) includes 19 songs and 1 music video, runs about 70 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
Artificial Paradise (Deluxe) - OneRepublic (released 7/12/2024)
-Favorite Song: Hurt (written by R. Tedder, T. Spry)
-Honorable Mentions: Last Holiday (written by B. Kutzle, R. Tedder, N. Zancanella); Mirage (for Assassin's Creed Mirage) with Assassin's Creed & Mishaal Tamer (written by M. Tamer, R. Tedder, G. Boutin, C. Rubin, W. Jay, B. Angelides)
Since I wrote about OneRepublic earlier in the year (see my Colorado post), I figured I'd give this album a listen. The album is the exact sound I'd expect from these guys, and Ryan Tedder's songwriting is as good as usual. It's fairly generic pop rock, but I did find a few bangers on this track list. Artificial Paradise (Deluxe) includes 18 songs, runs about 47 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Bando Stone and The New World - Childish Gambino (released 7/19/2024)
-Favorite Song: Running Around ft. Fousheé (written by R. Mackin, T. Johnson, D. Glover, M. Uzowuru, B. Fousheé)
I was excited for this after how much I enjoyed Atavista, but this album just did not hit the same way for me. It was a total different sound than I anticipated, which isn't necessarily bad, it just caught me off guard. Kind of a bummer considering Glover says this is the final Childish Gambino album, but I did enjoy the one song I downloaded. Bando Stone and The New World includes 17 songs, runs about 60 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Sincere - Khalid (released 8/2/2024)
-Favorite Song: Altitude (written by D. Kosiak, J. Kellner, K. Robinson, J. Villaluna) -Honorable Mentions: Please Don't Fall In Love With Me (written by K. Robinson, J. Villaluna, J. Kellner, D. Kosiak, A. Cook, A. Graham, K. Brothers, N. Shebib)
I have really like Khalid's voice on the songs I've heard him featured on, so I decided to give this album a try. It's pretty standard R&B, which I personally have consistenly found fairly. It's not that the album is bad, just not for me except for a couple of songs. Sincere includes 16 songs, runs about 52 minutes in length, and is labeled as an R&B/soul album by Apple Music.
Intermission - Maren Morris (released 8/2/2024)
-Favorite Song: push me over (written by M. Morris, J. Maskin, C. Gavin, N. McPherson)
I've always enjoyed Maren Morris's music and her fun blend of country and R&B, so I knew I'd be checking out this EP when it dropped. It's not my favorite from her, not because the music is bad, it just seemed pretty surface level in my opinion. It was fun to hear her collaborate with MUNA, but overall the track list didn't floor me. Intermission includes 5 songs, runs about 15 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop EP by Apple Music.
Amazing Grace - Hillsong Chapel (released 8/9/2024)
-Favorite Song: Lord Send Revival (written by B. Tan, A. King, M. Crocker)
-Honorable Mentions: Cornerstone (written by R. Morgan, J. Myrin, E. Lijero); Hosanna (written by B. Fraser); I Surrender (written by M. Crocker); Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace) (written by J. Myrin, J. Houston); Worthy Is The Lamb (written by D. Zschech); Shout To The Lord (written by D. Zschech); O Praise The Name (Anástasis) (written by M. Sampson, D. Ussher, B. Hastings); Mighty to Save (written by B. Fielding, R. Morgan)
I didn't really know much about Hillsong Chapel before this year, but I'm so glad I took time to listen to this album. These versions of these beloved worship songs may have simplified arrangements, but it somehow enhances the experience of listening to them. It's a beautiful, intimate album that would beautifully accompany a quiet time or compliment an acoustic worship set. Amazing Grace includes 13 songs, runs about 63 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
F-1 Trillion (Long Bed) - Post Malone (released 8/16/2024)
-Favorite Song: M-E-X-I-C-O ft. Billy Strings (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, C. McGill)
-Honorable Mentions: Wrong Ones ft. Tim McGraw (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, L. Combs, J. McNair, E. Smith); Pour Me A Drink ft. Blake Shelton (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, J. Byron, R. Block, J. Dozzi); Have The Heart ft. Dolly Parton (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, L. Wilson, B. Paisley, A. Gorley); Goes Without Saying ft. Brad Paisley (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, J. Thompson, C. McGill, J. Reeves); Nosedive ft. Lainey Wilson (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, L. Combs, J. McNair, B. Walsh, E. Smith); Losers ft. Jelly Roll (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, J. Reeves, C. Walters, E. Smith); Devil I've Been ft. ERNEST (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, J. Hoskins, A. Post, E. Smith, C. Walters); Missin' You Like This ft. Luke Combs (written by L. Combs, L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, J. McNair, M. Hardy); California Sober ft. Chris Stapleton (written by C. Stapleton, L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, M. Holman); Right About You (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, E. Smith, C. Walters); Yours (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, T. Philips); Dead At The Honky Tonk (written by L. Bell, C.Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, E. Smith, J. Byron); Killed A Man (written by G. Warburton, J. Fox, J. Bell, A. Post, C. Handsome, L. Bell); Hey Mercedes (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, A. Gorley, E. Smith); Two Hearts (written by L. Bell, C. Handsome, A. Post, D. Dillon, J. Dillon, E. Smith)
I've been hoping for a country Posty album for a couple of years now, and 2024 is when my wish finally came true. Saying this was a highly anticipated album for me is an understatement, and I was in no way disappointed. Posty sounds right at home in a Nashville setting, and his love and respect for the genre are apparent in every note. F-1 Trillion (Long Bed) includes 27 songs, runs about 88 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Whirlwind - Lainey Wilson (released 8/23/2024)
-Favorite Song: Whirlwind (written by L. Wilson, T. Anderson, D. Wilson)
-Honorable Mentions: Good Horses ft. Miranda Lambert (written by L. Wilson, M. Lambert, L. Dick); Hang Tight Honey (written by L. Wilson, D. Williams, J. Nix, P. Sikes); Counting Chickens (written by L. Wilson, T. Anderson, J. Kear, D. Wilson, J. Decious); Ring Finger (written by L. Wilson, A. Raitiere, M. Dodson, J. Decious)
I'm not really on the Lainey Wilson train like so many other country fans are, but I wanted to check this album out to give myself a firmer opinion. That being said, this was an alright country album by an alright artist. I was not blown away by any means, but I found some songs I liked and, in general, it was fine. Whirlwind includes 14 songs, runs about 52 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Short n' Sweet - Sabrina Carpenter (released 8/23/2024)
-Favorite Song: Sharpest Tool (written by S. Carpenter, J. Antonoff, A. Allen)
-Honorable Mentions: Taste (written by S. Carpenter, J. Ryan, I. Kirkpatrick, J. Michaels, A. Allen); Please Please Please (written by S. Carpenter, J. Antonoff, A. Allen); Coincidence (written by S. Carpenter, J. Ryan, I. Kirkpatrick, A. Allen, J. Michaels); Espresso (written by S. Carpenter, J. Bunetta, S. Jones, A. Allen)
Sabrina Carpenter has truly been the flavor of the year, so I knew I had to listen to this one even if I wasn't super enthused. I did enjoy it more than I expected to, but it was still just "fine" to me. I'm definitely still more of an Olivia Rodrigo fan, but a few of these songs were good and damn if Espresso isn't cachy af. Short n' Sweet includes 12 songs, runs about 36 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
About A Woman - Thomas Rhett (released 8/23/2024)
-Favorite Song: Fool (written by T. Rhett, J. Bunetta, R. Block, J. Byron, A. Izquierdo, Z. Kelsey, J. Ryan, R. Vojtesak)
-Honorable Mentions: Can't Love You Anymore (written by T. Rhett, J. Bunetta, J. Ryan, J. Hindlin); After All The Bars Are Closed (written by T. Rhett, J. Bunetta, J. Byron, J. Free, J. Hindlin); Don't Wanna Dance (written by M. Dragstrem, R. Hurd, G. Merrill, S. Rubicam)
I think Thomas Rhett is just beyond adorable, so when he announced new music this year I immediately put it on my list. This is more modern country music that I enjoy, similar to Luke Combs. His love for country music is as apparent as his love for his wife in every song, and I just feel good listening to it. About A Woman includes 14 songs, runs about 44 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
My Favorite Dream - John Legend (released 8/30/2024)
-Favorite Song: Great, Great Day (written by C. Neyman, J. Keller)
-Honorable Mentions: When I Feel Sad (written by J. Stephens); Three Little Birds (written by R. Marley); L-O-V-E with Sufjan Stevens ft. Chrissy, LUNA & Miles (written by J. Stephens); For You (written by T. Craskey, E. Swaray, J. Stephens); Safe (written by J. Stephens); We're a Family (Solo Piano) (written by J. Stephens)
I had no idea this was a kid's music album until I turned it on to listen, and I was honestly fairly enchanted. You can tell John Legend is a loving dad in the way that this feels professional but not pretentious. He's made something for his family that they can all be proud of and share with other families, too. My Favorite Dream includes 15 songs, runs about 45 minutes in length, and is labeled as a children's music album by Apple Music.
A Whole New Sound - Disney (released 9/6/2024)
-Favorite Song: I2I with Magnolia Park (written by P. DeRemer, R. Freeland)
-Honorable Mentions: Can You Feel the Love Tonight with Simple Plan (written by T. Rice, E. John); A Whole New World with Yellowcard ft. Chrissy Costanza (written by A. Menken, T. Rice); Go the Distance with We the Kings (written by D. Zippel, A. Menken); Surface Pressure with Plain White T's (written by L. Miranda); You've Got a Friend in Me with Meet Me @ The Altar (written by R. Newman); You'll Be in My Heart with BOYS LIKE GIRLS (written by P. Collins); Let It Go with LØLØ (written by R. Lopez, K. Anderson-Lopez)
I'm fully ok with these genre specific Disney cover albums and want them to keep right on coming. My husband and I joked that the bands that were big when we were in high school grew up and had kids who love Disney movies, and if that's how this came to be then thank goodness because it's awesome. These alt rock reimaginings are so fun and respectful of the originals, and honestly every song is a banger. A Whole New Sound includes 12 songs, runs about 35 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Cowboys And Dreamers - George Strait (released 9/6/2024)
-Favorite Song: To The Moon (written by M. Brown, S. Clark)
-Honorable Mentions: Three Drinks Behind (written by K. Williams, B. Gaither, J. Silvey); MIA Down In MIA (written by A. Craig, D. Dillon); Honky Tonk Hall Of Fame ft. Chris Stapleton (written by C. Stapleton, J. Clark, T. James)
George Strait, not unlike Willie Nelson, has a way of making you feel so comfortable in his music that it's like you've known these songs your entire life. This formula has worked for him for literal decades, and it clearly works since he always leaves his fans wanting more. This is true country music, through and through. Cowboys And Dreamers includes 13 songs, runs about 48 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Postcards From Texas - Miranda Lambert (released 9/13/2024)
-Favorite Song: January Heart (written by B. Cobb, N. Medley)
-Honorable Mentions: Armadillo (written by A. Raitiere, J. Decious, P. Twomey); Dammit Randy (written by M. Lambert, J. Randall, B. McLoughlin); Looking Back On Luckenbach (written by M. Lambert, S. McAnally, N. Hemby); Wranglers (Extended) (written by A. Mae, R. Carpenter, E. McKeever); I Hate Love Songs (written by M. Lambert, J. Randall, J. Ingram); Bitch On The Sauce (Just Drunk) (written by M. Lambert, J. Johnston)
A Miranda Lambert release is always cause for celebration here at Audio Aesthetics. This album feels a little more Texas country than Nashville, which is fine with me hearing her get back to her roots. There's her usual mixture of silly and sassy songs mixed with sincere ballads, so there's a little something for everyone. Postcards From Texas includes 14 songs, runs about 46 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
143 - Katy Perry (released 9/20/2024)
-Favorite Song: WONDER (written by K. Perry, C. Sundberg, K. Sundberg, T. Hermansen, M. Eriksen, H. Walter, F. Alqaisi)
-Honorable Mentions: WOMAN'S WORLD (written by K. Perry, A. Joseph, V. Oliver, C. Angelides, L. Gottwald, R. Valdes); ALL THE LOVE (written by K. Perry, V. Oliver, R. Ogren, K. Bach, A. Joseph, F. Alqaisi, L. Gottwald)
I go into every new Katy Perry release hoping to like it, but these last three have left me fairly disappointed. I personally feel she's outgrown this type of music, but still keeps trying to stick to this same sound and, while it may work for others, it just doesn't really work for me anymore. Also, there's the ick factor of her still working with Dr. Luke, and what really sucks is two of the songs I like have his songwriting credits attached to them. 143 includes 11 songs, runs about 34 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
HIGH - Keith Urban (released 9/20/2024)
-Favorite Song: CHUCK TAYLORS (written by K. Urban, G. Wells, J. Flowers, C. McGill)
-Honorable Mentions: STRAIGHT LINE (written by K. Urban, G. Wells, J. Flowers, C. McGill); MESSED UP AS ME (written by M. Lotten, J. Dillon, S. McAnally, R. Clawson); DODGE IN A SILVERADO (written by B. Stennis, M. Tyler)
I love Keith Urban and his unique brand of country music. Honestly, this was just a banner year for new country stuff. Urban is always going to be high energy and a ton of fun. HIGH includes 12 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Harlequin - Lady Gaga (released 9/27/2024)
-Favorite Song: Oh, When The Saints (written by S. Germanotta, M. Polansky, traditional lyrics)
-Honorable Mentions: Good Morning (written by S. Germanotta, A. Freed, M. Polansky, N. Brown); That's Entertainment (written by H. Dietz, A. Schwartz); The Joker (written by A. Newley, L. Bricusse); Folie à Deux (written by S. Germanotta); Close To You (written by B. Bacharach); Happy Mistake (written by S. Germanotta, M. Tucker)
Even if the Joker sequel was apparently not good, at least this album was. This companion piece is Gaga's first jazz album without her bestie Tony Bennett, making it emotional, but she put her own cool spin on these classics and made them entirely her own. Gaga has such an amazing voice, and handles this genre with ease. Harlequin includes 13 songs, runs about 41 minutes in length, and is labeled as a jazz album by Apple Music.
Sold out, sincerely - Benjamin William Hastings (released 10/4/2024)
-Favorite Song: Set me on fire (written by B. Hastings, B. Tan, M. Crocker, J. Houston)
-Honorable Mentions: Abandoned with Brandon Lake (written by B. Hastings, B. Lake, C. Carnes, C. Davenport); What a friend with Aodhàn King (written by B. Hastings, A. King, B. Tan, B. Fielding); If it wasn't for Jesus (written by B. Hastings, H. Bentley, D. Leonard); I can't thank you enough with Matt Crocker (written by B. Hastings, M. Crocker, B. Fielding, B. Lake, M. Fatkin); Time to move on (written by B. Hastings, H. Bentley, B. Lake)
Benjamin William Hastings is all over the place right now in worship music, and I am into it. This solo album is so peaceful and heartfelt, and it really did my soul good listening to it. Hastings is a talented vocalist, but he never makes it about that; the music is always pointed upward in worship of the Father. Sold out, sincerely includes 12 songs, runs about 39 minutes in length, and is labeled as a Christian album by Apple Music.
For Cryin' Out Loud! - FINNEAS (released 10/4/2024)
-Favorite Song: Cleats (written by F. O'Connell, A. Forbes, M. Fildey, M. Morris, L. Healey, D. Marinelli)
-Honorable Mentions: 2001 (written by F. O'Connell, A. Forbes, L. Healey, M. Fildey, M. Morris, D. Marinelli); Family Feud (written by F. O'Connell, A. Forbes, M. Fildey, M. Morris, S. Homaee, L. Healey, D. Marinelli); Lotus Eater (written by F. O'Connell, A. Forbes, M. Fildey, M. Morris, S. Homaee, L. Healey, D. Marinelli)
Finneas's solo stuff doesn't grab me quite as much as Billie's does, but I still like to listen to it. He really is a talented songwriter and producer, and he just keeps proving that with every new project. There's nothing super crazy on this one, but it's still pleasant to listen to. For Cryin' Out Loud! includes 10 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Leon - Leon Bridges (released 10/4/2024)
-Favorite Song: Ivy (written by T. Bridges, B. Marcel, A. Alexander, T. Johnson)
-Honorable Mentions: Laredo (written by T. Bridges, I. Fitchuk, D. Tashian); Panther City (written by T. Bridges, I. Fitchuk, D. Tashian, A. Jenkins, J. Moore); Peaceful Place (written by T. Bridges, I. Fitchuk, A. Jenkins, D. Tashian); Can't Have It All (written by T. Bridges, L. Laird, B. West, J. Castille); Ghetto Honeybee (written by T. Bridges, I. Fitchuk, N. Hemby, A. Jenkins)
With every new release, I love Leon Bridges just a little bit more. This album felt very grounded, and both of us being from Fort Worth it was nice and familiar to hear him reference so many places I've known my entire life. His style of R&B is absolutely one I can get behind and enjoy at any time. Leon includes 13 songs, runs about 44 minutes in length, and is labeled as an R&B/soul album by Apple Music.
Beautifully Broken (Pickin' Up The Pieces) - Jelly Roll (released 10/11/2024)
-Favorite Song: Get By (written by R. Tedder, S. Johnson, J. Deford, M. Pollack, J. Bellion, J. Johnson)
-Honorable Mentions: Heart of Stone (written by Z. Crowell, J. Deford, B. Pendergrass, S. Carter); Higher Than Heaven with Wiz Khalifa (written by J. Deford, C. Thomaz, T. Phillips, J. Alexander, B. Berryhill)
I feel very similarly to Jelly Roll as I do to Lainey Wilson: he's fine. I'm definitely interested since he's such a hot commodity in country music right now, but there were plenty of other country albums I enjoyed more this year. Honestly, a lot of the songs sounded alike to me, both in production and in lyrical content, but the couple of songs I liked I enjoy listening to when they come on. Beautifully Broken (Pickin' Up The Pieces) includes 28 songs, runs about 83 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
PowerNerd - Devin Townsend (released 10/25/2024)
-Favorite Song: Ruby Quaker (written by D. Townsend, D. Todd)
-Honorable Mentions: PowerNerd (written by D. Townsend); Gratitude (written by D. Townsend); Ubelia (written by D. Townsend)
I may not be the biggest metalhead, but I will always make time for Devin Townsend music. He's so wonderfully weird and crazy talented, and I always have fun listening to his stuff. It's dramatic, it's interesting, and feels like it would be incredible to witness live. PowerNerd includes 11 songs, runs about 44 minutes in length, and is labeled as a metal album by Apple Music.
The Great Impersonator - Halsey (released 10/25/2024)
-Favorite Song: Panic Attack (written by A. Frangipane, S. Price)
-Honorable Mentions: Ego (written by A. Frangipane, G. Kurstin, G. Hein); I Believe in Magic (written by A. Frangipane, M. Uzowuru, E. Ridley); Letter to God (1983) (written by A. Frangipane); Darwinism (written by A. Frangipane, S. Price); Hurt Feelings (written by A. Frangipane, M. Uzowuru, T. Johnson, D. Wiggins); Lucky (written by A. Frangipane, M. Uzowuru, M. Martin, A. Kronlund, R. Lawrence, T. Potts, R. Yacoub)
Halsey's music usually takes me a second to get into, but I always find more than enough stuff to like. This concept album is really cool, with each track being inspired by a different artist to inspires her, including but not limited to Dolores O'Riordan, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Britney Spears, and even herself from ten years ago. Each song feels completely unique, yet the track list flows together seamlessly. The Great Impersonator includes 19 songs, runs about 70 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
What A Relief - Katie Gavin (released 10/25/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Baton (written by C. Gavin)
-Honorable Mentions: Aftertaste (written by C. Gavin); Casual Drug Use (written by C. Gavin, A. Bain); Sketches (written by C. Gavin)
I'm still fairly new in listening to MUNA, having only just discovered them when they opened for Taylor Swift last March. Lead singer Katie's solo album is not the sound I admittedly expected from the few MUNA songs I have on my phone, but I really dug the sound. It was very singer/songwritery, even reminding me of Joni Mitchell at times. What A Relief includes 12 songs, runs about 39 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
PATTERNS - Kelsea Ballerini (released 10/25/2024)
-Favorite Song: Cowboys Cry Too with Noah Kahan (written by K. Ballerini, N. Kahan, A. Vanderheym)
-Honorable Mentions: Sorry Mom (written by K. Ballerini, A. Vanderheym, J. Dillon, K. Fairchild, H. Lindsey); First Rodeo (written by K. Ballerini, A. Vanderheym, H. Lindsey, J. Dillon, K. Fairchild); Beg For Your Love (written by K. Ballerini, A. Vanderheym, H. Lindsey, J. Dillon, K. Fairchild); I Would, Would You (written by K. Ballerini, A. Vanderheym, J. Dillon)
I usually enjoy Kelsea Ballerini and her fun brand of pop country, but I think I expected a little more grit from her breakup album. Don't get me wrong, I did still enjoy this, but it was just still more bright and colorful than I thought it would be. What I really like about her music is the fact that it's nice and clean but still feels grown up and mature, something that a lot of artists I think have a hard time balancing. PATTERNS includes 15 songs, runs about 46 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
A Dream Through Open Eyes - The Strike (released 10/25/2024)
-Favorite Song: The Getaway (written by D. Maemone, C. Crabb, J. Tibbitts)
-Honorable Mentions: American Dream (written by D. Maemone, J. Tibbitts, C. Crabb); Just Like Paradise (written by D. Maemone, J. Tibbitts, C. Crabb); Soundtrack (written by J. Tibbitts, D. Maemone, C. Crabb); Reckless (written by D. Maemone, J. Tibbitts, C. Crabb)
This is now like the third year in a row I've found an album on an Instagram story and loved it after listening to it. I don't even remember whose story it was, but this fun, exciting, neo-80's pop sounding album was an absolute blast from start to finish. I've kind of been over the neo-70s sound that's permeated this decade's music for a while, so this was a really nice change of pace. A Dream Through Open Eyes includes 11 songs, runs about 42 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Last Leaf On The Tree - Willie Nelson (released 11/1/2024)
-Favorite Song: Keep Me In Your Heart (written by W. Zevon, J. Calderon)
This is very different from Willie's release earlier in the year; not exactly in a bad way, but not one that struck a true chord with me. Produced by his youngest son Micah, the layering of a much more synthetic sound over Willie's classic country felt dissonant in a way that I didn't hate persay, I just wasn't a huge fan of. It's definitely different, which is probably a challenge after 153 albums to come up with that sort of idea, and definitely creative. Last Leaf On The Tree includes 13 songs, runs about 51 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
Reboot II - Brooks & Dunn (released 11/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Play Something Country with Lainey Wilson (written by R. Dunn, T. McBride)
-Honorable Mentions: Neon Moon with Morgan Wallen (written by R. Dunn); Believe with Jelly Roll (written by R. Dunn, C. Wiseman); Boot Scootin' Boogie with Halestorm (written by R. Dunn); That Ain't No Way to Go with Mitchell Tenpenny (written by D. Cook, R. Dunn, L. Brooks); Indian Summer with ERNEST (written by L. Brooks, R. Dunn, B. DiPiero); Only in America with Corey Kent (written by L. Brooks, D. Cook, R. Rogers)
I loved the original Reboot in 2019, so I was thrilled to see Brooks & Dunn were putting out a second volume. There's a lot bigger variety of sounds on this one than the first, and while I personally enjoyed the original more I had a great time listening to this. Brooks & Dunn are absolutely amazing, and I love that they've done these collaborative albums celebrating both their own career buut also the new voices in country music. Reboot II includes 18 songs and 1 video, runs about 70 minutes in length, and is labeled as a country album by Apple Music.
From Zero - LINKIN PARK (released 11/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Over Each Other (written by J. Green, M. Mora)
-Honorable Mentions: The Emptiness Machine (written by B. Delson, C. Brittain, D. Farrell, E. Armstrong, J. Hahn, M. Shinoda); Heavy Is the Crown (written by M. Elizondo); Overflow (written by J. Torrey, J. Dimsdale, M. Elizondo); IGYEIH (written by N. Long)
I'm not gonna lie, I was very surprised and skeptical when I heard Linkin Park was getting back together with a new lead vocalist. As a casual fan (my husband is the Linkin Park diehard in the house), I thought this album was alright, but it was lacking something pretty big, and I finally figured out it was Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda's songwriting. All of the public problematic things with Emily Armstrong aside, she's not what's wrong here; her vocals are good, they just aren't Chester. From Zero includes 11 songs, runs about 32 minutes in length, and is labeled as an alternative album by Apple Music.
Gratitude - Mary J. Blige (released 11/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Never Give Up On Me (written by A. King, C. Podell, D. Emille, K. Krysiuk, M. Blige)
-Honorable Mentions: Need You More ft. Jadakiss (written by M. Blige, C. Herron, D. Robbinson, D. Foster, J. Phillips, L. Blige-DaCosta, M. Jones, R. Jerkins, T. Ellis, T. McElroy, J. Pyle)
Mary J. Blige is such an icon, I make sure to make time for new music from her when I see it. No, R&B isn't my preferred genre, but I can usually find a song or two on her albums that I really like. She has such a deep, rich timbre to her voice and really pours her whole soul into her music. Gratitude includes 12 songs, runs about 41 minutes in length, and is labeled as an R&B/soul album by Apple Music.
The Party Never Ends 2.0 - Juice WRLD (released 11/22/2024)
-Favorite Song: Lace It with Eminem & benny blanco (written by L. Resto, J. Higgins, M. Mathers, B. Levin, M. Høiberg, N. Perez)
-Honorable Mentions: Misfit (written by J. Higgins, M. Høiberg, N. Perez); Adore You (written by J. Perez, N. Mira); Best Friend with Fall Out Boy (written by A. Watt, P. Stump, J. Higgins, B. Levin, M. Høiberg, P. Wentz)
Juice WRLD is a hip hop act that I tend to like whenever he comes on, and it really is a shame that he passed away so young. He was truly talented, and the fact that he banked up thousands of songs probably ensures that even though he's physically gone, his music is going to be around for a good, long time. His more lyrical style of hip hop really hits for me, and I enjoyed this album quite a bit. The Party Never Ends 2.0 includes 19 songs, runs about 57 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
GNX - Kendrick Lamar (released 11/22/2024)
-Favorite Song: wacced out murals (written by K. Duckworth)
-Honorable Mentions: squabble up (written by K. Duckworth); hey now ft. Dody6 (written by K. Duckworth, Dody6); peekaboo ft. AzChike (written by K. Duckworth, D. Walker)
This should come as no surprise to anyone, but Kendrick is, of course, great. This album was definitely a nice surprise, even after all the bonus diss tracks that came out of that truly insane feud with Drake over the summer. Even those of us who aren't super into hip hop can appreciate the talent behind this album. GNX includes 12 songs, runs about 44 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
Small Changes - Michael Kiwanuka (released 11/15/2024)
-Favorite Song: Rebel Soul (written by M. Kiwanuka, B. Burton, D. Cover)
-Honorable Mentions: Live For Your Love (written by M. Kiwanuka, B. Burton, D. Cover); The Rest Of Me (written by M. Kiwanuka, B. Burton, D. Cover)
My brother got me into Michael Kiwanuka a couple of years ago, so I for sure knew I wanted to listen to this when it dropped. It didn't grab me as much as some of his older stuff did, but it was still a really chill album. He's got a great voice and he's super talented, so he'll probably always get a listen from me. Small Changes includes 11 songs, runs about 40 minutes in length, and is labeled as a soul album by Apple Music.
rosie - ROSÉ (released 12/6/2024)
-Favorite Song: gameboy (written by A. Allen, C. Park, D. Williams, G. Hein, R. Cubina, R. Bisel)
-Honorable Mentions: toxic till the end (written by C. Park, E. Warren, M. Pollack, E. Blair); APT. with Bruno Mars (written by P. Hernandez, A. Allen, C. Park, C. Brown, H. Walter, M. Chapman, N. Chinn, O. Fedi, P. Lawreence, R. Chahayed, T. Thomas); dance all night (written by C. Park, G. Kurstin, M. McDonald)
Rosé is one of my favorite Blackpink members, so I wanted to see what her solo project was going to be like. It was a little slower paced than I expected, but overall it was a pretty decent pop album. I really enjoy her singing voice, and I think she's just as good solo as she is part of her group. rosie includes 12 songs, runs about 36 minutes in length, and is labeled as a pop album by Apple Music.
Missionary - Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre (released 12/13/2024)
-Favorite Song: Thank You (written by K. Williams, B. Edwards, C. Broadus, A. Young, B. Perry, T. Myrie, V. Smith, E. Griggs, D. Balfour, F. Nassar, D. Abernathy, M. Mathers, S. Stewart)
-Honorable Mentions: Outta Da Blue with Alus (written by C. Broadus, A. Young, D. Abernathy, J. Gwin, M. Mule, I. De Boni, B. Perry, V. Smith, L. Stansfield, I. Devaney, A. Morris, M. Priddice, C. Letshou, T. Bruins, J. Daley, O. Price, M. Arulpragasam, M. Jones, P. Simonon, T. Headon, J. Strummer, T. Pentz, J. Weaver, C. Ivey, T. Woodford, T. Myrie); Gorgeous with Jhené Aiko (written by A. Young, V. Smith, E. Griggs, F. Nassar, D. Balfour, B. Perry, T. Gesteelde-Diamant, T. Myrie); Pressure with K.A.A.N. (written by B. Edwards, A. Young, B. Perry, V. Smith, J. Kollie, D. Abernathy, S. Jordan, M. Henderson, L. De Jesus); Another Part Of Me with Sting (written by B. Edwards, A. Young, B. Perry, V. Smith, T. Myrie, S. Jordan, Y. Koffi, R. Vitale, G. Sumner, E. Griggs, F. Nassar, D. Balfour, D. Abernathy)
Finishing off this year is a strong contender from Snoop & Dre. It's pretty standard as far as Snoop goes, but is honestly still pretty good. Nothing feels too long, too tired, or overstays its welcome. Missionary includes 16 songs, runs about 46 minutes in length, and is labeled as a hip hop/rap album by Apple Music.
Thank you guys for an amazing year, and I hope you got to hear some amazing music in 2024. Happy listening, and see ya'll next week!
