SAGITTARIUS: All you friends are laughing behind your back - kill them. Take down all those naked pictures of Ernest Borgnine you've got hanging in your den. -Weird Al Yankovic
First of all, it's surreal to me that this Wednesday is the first anniversary of my first ever blog post (on the other platform at least, the numbers won't line up here on Wix but at least I know). This blog has become a huge part of my life, with planning for upcoming posts, talking to a few of my favorite people about their favorite songs, curating playlists, and best of all listening to a TON of music pretty much all day every day. If you've read this blog even once since I started writing it, I want to thank you. This started out as sort of a self therapy activity for me, and while it's still very much that, I take it as seriously as if I was getting paid for it, which I am definitely not but it's important to me to make this enjoyable for any readers as it is for myself as the author.
Before I get too gushy and emotional, we're nearing the end of our Astrology series with the Sagis today. Those born under the final fire sign have been said to be honest, adventurous, optimistic, independent, and philosophical while also being called out for being impatient and careless. Some of my absolute favorite people call themselves Sagittariuses (Sagittarii? Sagittaripeople?), so I've been looking forward to writing this post for a while. Let's get started listening!
Skyfall by Adele (written by A. Adkins, P. Epworth)
It has taken entirely too long for me to get Adele on here but I set weird rules for myself so what can you do. The theme to the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall (starring Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem) showcases some Sagittarian honesty throughout the lyrics. I LOVE this song. It's beautiful, haunting, and a classic Bond anthem, and really shows off Adele's insane vocals.
This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again/For this is the end/I've drowned and dreamt this moment/So overdue, I owe them/Swept away, I'm stolen/Let the sky fall when it crumbles/We will stand tall, we'll face it all together/Let the sky fall when it crumbles/We will stand tall, we'll face it all together at skyfall/At skyfall
How Far I'll Go by Auli'i Cravalho (written by L. Miranda)
Moana is a wonderful example of a Sagittarius as well as being a top tier Disney princess in her own right. She's funny, generous, honest, idealistic, and optimistic, all of the best traits Sagittarius has to offer, and although she can also be a little careless and impatient she can recognize that in herself and use it to make herself better. Cravalho's beautiful singing voice paired with Miranda's incomparable lyricism work hand in hand to create a really amazing song.
I've been staring at the edge of the water long as I can remember, never really knowing why/I wish I could be the perfect daughter, but I go back to the water no matter how hard I try/Every turn I take, every trail I track, every path I make, every road leads back/To the place I know where I cannot go, where I long to be/See the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me/And no one knows how far it goes/If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me/One day, I'll know, if I go, there's just no telling how far I'll go
bitches broken hearts by Billie Eilish (written by B. O'Connell, E. Fenn, F. O'Connell)
Eilish is a Sagittarius, so it's no surprise when those traits shine through in her lyrics. This single from her 2017 EP dont smile at me show traits like honesty, boastfulness, and impatience all backed to a great beat. I like this song a lot - it was featured as a bonus track on dont smile at me so I came across it a little later than I would've liked, but I really enjoy listening to it.
What is it you want/You can lie, but I know that you're not fine/Every time you talk/You talk 'bout me, but you swear I'm not on your mind/You can pretend you don't miss me/You can pretend you don't care/All you wanna do is kiss me/Oh, what a shame I'm not there
Me Against the Music by Britney Spears ft. Madonna (written by B. Spears, C. Stewart, G. O'Brien, M. Ciccone, P. Magnet, T. Nkhereanye, T. Nash)
Spears is another Sagittarian artist, and this single from her 2003 album In the Zone is a classic from her repertoire. This bop shows characteristics like optimism, boastfulness, and maybe a little impatience and carelessness, but it's still a lot of fun to listen to.
And no one cares, it's whipping my hair, it's pulling my waist/To hell with stares, the sweat is dripping all over my face/And no one's there, I'm the only one dancing up in the place/Tonight, I'm here, feel the beat of the drum, gotta keep it that bass/I'm up against the speaker, tryna take on the beat/It's like a competition, me against the beat, I wanna get in the zone/I wanna get in the zone/If you really wanna battle, saddle up and get your rhythm/Tryna hit it, chic-a-tah, in a minute, Imma take you on/Imma take you on/All my people on the floor, let me see you dance/All my people wanting more, let me see you dance/All my people, round and round, let me see you dance/All my people in the crowd, let me see you dance/How would you like a friendly competition/Let's take on the song, let's take on the song/It's you and me, baby, we're the music/Time to party all night long, all night long
Mama's Song by Carrie Underwood (written by C. Underwood, K. DioGuardi, L. Laird, M. Frederiksen)
This song from Underwood's 2007 album Carnival Ride shines light on Sagittarius traits like optimism and generosity. I admittedly thought this song was a little cliche when I first heard it, but as time has gone on I think it's such a sweet representation of a young woman's relationship with her mom, especially on her wedding day.
Mama, you taught me to do the right things/So now you have to let your baby fly/You've given me everything that I will need/To make it through this crazy thing called life/And I know you watched me grow up and only want what's best for me/And I think I found the answer to your prayers/And he is good, so good/He treats your little girl like a real man should/He is good, so good/He makes promises he keeps, no, he's never gonna leave/So don't you worry about me/Don't you worry about me
Attention by Charlie Puth (written by C. Puth, J. Kashner)
Puth is yet another Sagittarius-born artist - turns out a LOT of musicians that I like were born between late-November and late-December. Featured on his 2018 album Voicenotes, Attention showcases characteristics like honesty, impatience, and boastfulness. This song is a total bop and both it and the Pentatonix version of it are super fun to listen to.
You been running 'round, running 'round, running 'round, throwing that dirt all on my name/'Cause you knew that I, knew that I, knew that I'd call you up/You been going 'round, going 'round, going 'round every party in LA/'Cause you knew that I, knew that I, knew that I'd be at one/I know that dress is karma, perfume regret/You got me thinking 'bout when you were mine/And now I'm all up on ya, what'd you expect/But you're not coming home with me tonight/You just want attention, you don't want my heart/Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone new/Yeah, you just want attention, I knew from the start/You're just making sure I'm never getting over you
Hollywood by Cherry Pools (written by A. Calabretta, D. Ciccotelli, M. Broda)
This was a new research find for me this week, and I think I definitely like this young pop rock band. Featured on their 2018 EP Less Religion More Sex, this bop of a song shows off Sagittarian traits such as humor, honesty, optimism, boastfulness, and a touch of impatience. This song is a really good time to listen to, and it made me excited to listen to more of their stuff in the future.
She changes clothes like her boyfriends, the latest style is to use them/Sometimes, her nose sniffs a few things, she only smokes when it's the new thing/And your body's got the best of me, and Daddy's money is a luxury/And maybe if you weren't so naive, you wouldn't come off as stuck up and rich/And your friends have cool friends/With nice cars and expensive things/And you always say that my band is old news/Hollywood girls with their Hollywood trends, who needs them
Take It to the Limit by Eagles (written by G. Frey, D. Henley, R. Meisner)
Our first personal Sagittarius pick comes from one of my Top 5 Favorite People, my grandfather Richard, talking about why this undeniable classic from 1975 is his favorite song of all time (spoiler alert - his oldest child is my mom):
"It brings back great memories of an amazing time in my life when my oldest child was becoming a great person to share things with. We loved the music from that era and we like sports cars and driving fast with the top down, which we shared. We have continued to share the Eagles music for all these years."
All alone at the end of the evening/And the bright lights have faded to blue/I was thinking 'bout a woman who might have loved me/I never knew/You know I've always been a dreamer, spent my life running 'round/And it's so hard to change, can't seem to settle down/But the dreams I've seen lately/Keep on turning out and burning out and turning out the same/So put me on a highway and show me the sign/And take it to the limit one more time
An Ode to Lost Jigsaw Pieces by Enter Shikari (written by R. Reynolds)
Our next personal pick comes from one of the raddest dudes I know, my friend Jeremy, discussing this 2017 song from his favorite band:
"It's almost impossible for me to listen to this song without tearing up. The first half is about dealing with losing long-term relationship and how when that happens, you feel like you've lost a limb or a part of you and it tackles the anxiety and depression attached to losing a relationship that had become a part of your identity. I relate to this after losing my marriage and family after 15 years. The second half of the song is about literally losing someone close to you, like a family member. We've all been through this and know the difficulties involved with dealing with someone's death. The strings are beautiful on this part. The song ends with the repeating words of 'We all cope somehow.' At first, it is a soft approach to those words and at the end when he screams it, I feel like it is just a great therapeutic moment of basically saying, 'I won't give up and will get through my struggles at all costs.'"
I woke with a face like a crumpled plastic bag in a puzzle/When everyone in this town is a bag for life/He said, "My life is a total mess, it's 8pm and I'm not even dressed"/And oh, how I miss your Prosecco glazed lips/I miss them like the majority of modern mainstream music/Misses an original metaphor for missing someone/I was so scared of confronting the world alone/Fear put me in a headlock and dragged me back from the unknown song/If this is a siege, I'll wait this out/I'll wait this out, I'll wait this out/If this is a siege, I'll wait this out/I'll wait this out, I'll wait this out
Bilingual by Jarina De Marco (written by J. De Marco, M. Chapiron, N. Sylvester)
This was another fun find this week from De Marco. Released as a single in 2018, De Marco's lyrics show examples of Sagittarius traits like honesty, some humor, some idealism, and a little boastfulness and unruliness but in a fun sort of way. This track is super high energy and danceable, and would be the perfect song to exercise to - it's a great time all around.
What you doing crying on the kitchen floor/You know better, bb, you've been here before/Put your face on, Imma drag you out this door/'Cause you can't trap a man standing on the shore/Look at all the fishies, mmm, look at all the fish, wow/Look at all the fishes, Mira, look at that one right here, looking so delicious/Look at all the fish, wow, looking so delicious/Mira, look at that one right there, look at that one right there/Look at that one right there/You need to get up, get up, get up, get up, get up, get up, get up/If you wanna get off get off, get off get off, get off get off, get off get off, get off get off, get off get off, get off get off/Bilingual, newly single/Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow/Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow/Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow/ Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow/Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow/Mira, Mira, Mira, Mira, wow
All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix (written by B. Dylan)
The late great Jimi Hendrix, who passed away far too early at the age of 27, was also a Sagittarius, and while he didn't write this song it shows off some of his characteristics in the lyrics regardless. There's some light humor and honesty there, along with some boastfulness. Hendrix's cover of this song, rereleased in 1968, ended up being his highest ranking single in the US, includes one of the best guitar solos in music history, and received eternal approval from the original artist, Bob Dylan.
"There must be some kind of way out of here," said the joker to the thief/"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief/Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth/None were level on the line, nobody up at his word, hey"/"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke/"There are many here among us who feel that life is a joke, what the/But you and I, we've been through that and this is not our fate/So let us not talk falsely now, the hour's getting late, hey"/All along the watchtower/Princess kept the view/While all the women came and went/Barefoot servants, too
Keep It Real by Jonas Brothers (written by J. Jonas, K. Jonas, N. Jonas)
This JoBros track was featured both on their 2009 album Lines Vines and Trying Times as well as the soundtrack for season one of their Disney Channel series Jonas, which I tried so hard to watch but not even the promise of staring at Joe Jonas' face for half an hour at a time could make it watchable, there I said it. This is still a really fun, upbeat, feel good track though, and it shows off Sagittarius traits like idealism, optimism, and a little bit of unruliness.
You dream of a day when the songs that you play/Are blasting through the speakers in your car/It comes in a flash, and you hear the crowd/Screaming out your name for the encore/Living life, life in the fast lane, not that bad, no we can't complain/Who's to say that we won't keep it real/Hold on tight, don't you dare let go, now's the time to let the whole world know/You can shine bright but still keep it real
Oh What A World by Kacey Musgraves (written by D. Tashman, I. Fitchuk, K. Musgraves)
This dreamy track from Musgraves' 2018 album Golden Hour gave her the name for her most recent tour as well as serving up some Sagittarian vibes along the way. It's calmer than some of the other songs that we've heard this week, but still very optimistic and idealistic as she sings about how there are real, tangible things in the world that remind us every day that life is beautiful.
Northern lights in our skies/Plants that grow and open your mind/Things that swim in a neon glow/How we all got here, nobody knows/These are real things/These are real things/Oh, what a world, don't wanna leave/All kinds of magic all around us, it's hard to believe/Thank God it's not too good to be true/Oh, what a world, and then there is you
Solita by Kali Uchis (written by A. Clemons, J. Sweet, K. Uchis, M. Masis, R. Thomas)
The title track from Uchis' 2019 album Solita shows Sagittarius traits such as honesty and impatience. I like this song a bit better than the other Uchis song that I talked about way back in February on the Pisces post - it showcases her voice better in my opinion, has a really good beat, and transfers seamlessly from Spanish to English lyrics throughout.
Well, I got a feeling these scars won't ever look like they're old news/If I let you keep on rubbing salt into all my open wounds/I wish I could keep everything that you took of me but the photos/But you keep a piece of me locked in a secret spot we called home/Solita, solita/Bailando aquí sola como a mí me gusta/Solita, solita/Bailando aquí sola es major queen con el diablo
Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson (written by A. Lavigne, B. Benenate, M. Gerrard)
One of Clarkson's best songs is definitely the title track from her 2004 album Breakaway, and it was also featured on the soundtrack to the 2004 film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (starring Anne Hathaway and Chris Pine). Exploring Sagittarius characteristics like honesty, optimism, idealism, and a touch of impatience, this song is still beautiful and powerful all these years later.
Grew up in a small town, and when the rain would fall down, I'd just stare out my window/Dreaming of what could be and if I'd end up happy, I would pray/Trying hard to reach out, but when I'd try to speak out, felt like no one could hear me/Wanted to belong here, but something felt so wrong here, so I'd pray I could break away/I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly, I'll do what it takes 'til I touch the sky/And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change, and break away/Out of the darkness and into the sun, but I won't forget all the ones that I love/I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change, and break away
No One Mourns the Wicked by Kristin Chenoweth, Sean McCourt, Cristy Chandler, & Ensemble (written by S. Schwartz)
It does not matter how many times I see the show live (the currrent tally is 3), I will straight up ugly cry throughout the entirety of the opening number of Wicked. Our introduction to Glinda the Good Witch of the North shows her to be unintentionally funny, generous, and optimistic while also hinting at some boastfulness. This song has a lot of exposition in it, but it's so important to the story and such a powerful first song.
Good news, she's dead/The Witch of the West is dead/The wickedest witch there ever was, the enemy of all of us here in Oz is dead/Good news, good news/Look, it's Glinda/Fellow Ozians, let us be glad, let us be grateful/Let us rejoicify that goodness could subdue/The wicked workings of You Know Who/Isn't it nice to know that good will conquer evil/The truth we all believe will by and by outlive a lie for you and/No one mourns the wicked, no one cries, "They won't return"/No one lays a lily on their grave/The good man scorns the wicked, through their lives, our children learn/What we miss when we misbehave/And goodness knows, the wicked's lives are lonely/Goodness knows the wicked die alone/It just shows when you're wicked, you're left only on your own/And goodness knows, the wicked's lives are lonely/Goodness knows the wicked cry alone/Nothing grows for the wicked, they reap only what they show
Telephone by Lady Gaga ft. Beyoncé (written by B. Knowles, S. Germanotta, L. Daniels, L. Franklin, R. Jerkins)
This classic Gaga banger from her amazing 2008 EP The Fame Monster not only includes a kick ass duet with Beyoncé but also one of Gaga's most iconic music videos to date. You can definitely see Sagittarian traits like honesty, impatience, and little rudeness through the lyrics, and none of those feelings are unwarranted by our narrator. It's still a great hype anthem, and it's so fun to try and do all of the vocal effects during the choruses.
Hello, hello baby, you called, I can't hear a thing/I have got no service in the club you see, see/What, what, what did you say, oh, you're breaking up on me/Sorry I cannot hear you, I'm kinda busy/Kinda busy, kinda busy/Sorry I cannot hear you, I'm kinda busy/Just a second, it's my favorite song they're gonna play/And I cannot text you with a drink in my hand, eh/You should've made some plans with me, you knew that I was free/And now you won't stop calling me, I'm kinda busy/Stop calling, stop calling, I don't wanna think anymore/I left my head and my heart on the dance floor/Stop calling, stop calling, I don't wanna talk anymore/I left my head and my heart on the dance floor/Stop telephoning me/I'm busy/Stop telephoning me/Can call all you want but there's no one home and you're not gonna reach my telephone/I'm out in the club and I'm sipping that bub and you're not gonna reach my telephone/Can call all you want but there's no one home and you're not gonna reach my telephone/I'm out in the club and I'm sipping that bub and your' not gonna reach my telephone
Promises by Maverick City Music ft. Joe L. Barnes & Naomi Raine (written by A. Moses, C. Gaines, D. Bowe, J. Barnes, K. Alvarado, L. Marin)
Our final personal pick comes from one of my best ever friends, Ashley, who had a heck of a time picking a favorite song this week but when she landed on Promises she gave the most beautiful reasoning behind it:
"My entire life I've struggled with trust, especially when things get tough. I am good at giving up and throwing in the towel and not trusting God. This song serves as a reminder for why I need to trust Him. His word is true through every storm, through every difficulty. Towards the end of the song, there's a line that says 'I'll still bless You in the middle of the road and I don't know which way to go.' So often in my life, I feel like I'm sitting at a crossroads and I am so lost and it would be easy to run back the way I came and fall into what is easy and convenient. But praising Him in these times leads me in His direction instead of my own, and that's what is most important."
God of Abraham, You're the God of covenant and of faithful promises/Time and time again, You have proven You'll do just what You said/Though the storms may come and the winds may blow, I'll remain steadfast/And let my heart learn when You speak a word, it will come to pass/Great is Your faithfulness to me/Great is Your faithfulness to me/From the rising sun to the setting same, I will praise Your name/Great is Your faithfulness to me
Cool Off by Missy Elliott (written by M. Elliott)
Missy Elliott still slaps, no one can convince me otherwise. This song from her 2019 album Iconology is a great example of that - while it's not her classic earlier stuff, it's still a really fun jam. There's a lot of boastfulness and unruliness in the lyrics in typical Elliott style, and this track is definitely worth a listen.
Back in this bitch, Missy hopping out the sun roof/I got 'bout hunnid coupe shooters with me, hunnid troops/Got a hunnid bands, going HAM, we don't give a damn/It go up and down, round and round like a ceiling fan/Round like a ceiling fan, round like a ceiling fan/Round like a ceiling fan, round like a ceiling fan/Cool off, cool off, cool off/Cool off, cool off, cool off/Cool off, cool off, cool off
Starships by Nicki Minaj (written by C. Falk, O. Maraj, R. Yacoub, N. Khayat, W. Hector)
One of Minaj's most popular songs, featured on her 2012 album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, was definitely overplayed on the radios but there's no denying that it's an absolute banger. The lyrics help show off some of Minaj's Sagittarian traits (yes, she's another Sagittarius) such as humor, optimism, boastfulness, carelessness, and unruliness. This is still a great party song and a great driving-with-the-windows-down song.
Let's go to the beach-each, let's go get a wave/They say, what they gonna say/Have a drink, clink, found the Bud Light/Bad bitches like me is hard to come by/The Patrón-on, let's go get it on/The zone-one, yes, I'm in the zone/Is it two, three, leave a good tip/Imma blow all my money and don't give two shits/I'm on the floor, floor, I love to dance/So give me more, more, 'til I can't stand/Get on the floor, floor, like it's your last chance/If you want more, more, then here I am/Starships were meant to fly/Hands up and touch the sky/Can't stop, 'cause we're so high/Let's do this one more time/Starships were meant to fly/Hands up and touch the sky/Let's do this one last time/Can't stop, we're higher than a motherfucker
Miss Jackson by Panic! At the Disco ft. LOLO (written by A. Goose, A. Salem, B. Urie, B. Walker, J. Sinclair, L. Pritchard)
Not gonna lie, when I saw this song on the trackless for 2013's Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, I immediately thought, "Is Brendon Urie really about to cover Outkast? Because I might could be here for that." He definitely did not do that, but this song is still a banger all on its own. This song shows off a few more negative Sagittarian traits like carelessness and unruliness, but it's worth a listen for sure.
Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark, no one knows it's you, Miss Jackson/Found another victim, but no one's gonna find Miss Jackson, Jackson, Jackson/You put a sour little flavor in my mouth now, you move in circles, hoping no one's gonna find out/But we're so lucky, kiss the ring and let 'em bow down, looking for the time of your life, and no one's gonna find out/A pretty picture, but the scenery is too loud, a face like heaven catching lightning in your nightgown/But back away from the water, babe, you might drown, the party isn't over tonight, lightning in your nightgown/Hey, where will you be waking up tomorrow morning, hey, out the back door, g******, but I love her anyway/I love her anyway, I love her anyway, out the back door, g******, but I love her anyway/Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty/Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, Miss Jackson, are you nasty, are you nasty, I love her anyway
Feel by Post Malone ft. Kehlani (written by A. Post, C. Handsome, I. Kalai, K. Parrish)
This track from Posty's 2016 album Stoney is a good one, and I think he and Kehlani's voices sound really good together. There are hints of Sagittarian honesty and boastfulness in the lyrics, and being backed by a smooth, chill beat creates a really nice listen.
She talking down that noise, take her loving the the dawn, all while I talk on the phone/After we fuck in the morn', she wake up, she wearing my clothes/She always be calling my phone, she always be stealing my clothes/Asking me, "How does it feel when you know you could buy out the store?"/I'm Bathing Ape down to the floor, I'm dropping the flour in the foreign/I came a long way on my own, I'm down this shit on my own/I don't give a fuck what I'm told, I came a long way on my own/Now her pussy made out of gold, I swear her pussy owning my soul/She got the sauce, yeah, four days, a hundred thousand/Forever like a diamond, she bring me back to life, yeah/I'm so fly, I'm Martian, quit talking all that nonsense/I'm just tryna fuck you 'til you don't know nothing/ I cross my T's and dot my I's, yeah, I'm for real (Yeah, I'm for real)/He hold me down (She hold me down), that's my shield (That's my shield)/He buy whatever, he know the drill (Know the drill)/Don't need no pill (No pill, no)/He whispered in my ear and told me, "Feel"/Feel, feel, oh
Let You Love Me by Rita Ora (written by F. Keane, F. Gibson, I. Juber, L. Wiklund, N. Bao, R. Ora)
Sagittarius-born Ora has a really awesome voice, and this song just made me aware that I need to listen to more of her stuff. Featured on her 2018 album Phoenix, this track shows off some of her Sagittarian honesty. It's a really good listen and it's a great one to dance to.
I shoulda stayed with you last night instead of going out to find trouble that's just trouble/I think I run away sometimes whenever I get too vulnerable, that's not your fault/See, I wanna stay the whole night, I wanna lay with you 'til the sun's up/I wanna let you inside, oh, Heaven knows I've tried/I wish that I could let you love, wish that I could let you love me/I wish that I could let you love, wish that I could let you love me/Say, what's the matter, what's the matter with me, what's the matter with me/Oh, I wish that I could let you love, wish that I could let you love me now
Back to December by Taylor Swift (written by T. Swift)
TSwizz is a Sagittarian as well, and it comes across very plainly in the majority of her lyrics, including in her appropriately titled single The Archer from her 2019 album Lover. However, Back to December from her 2010 album Speak Now was just too good of a song to pass up for this post. Showing traits like honesty and idealism, as well as calling herself out on rudeness and carelessness in her relationship with ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner, this song is just so emotionally vulnerable I can't help but love it.
I'm so glad you made time to see me, how's life, tell me, how's your family/I haven't seen them in a while/You've been good, busier than ever, we small talk, work and the weather/Your guard is up and I know why/Because the last time you saw me is still burned in thee back of your mind/You gave me roses, and I left them there to die/So this is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night/And I goo back to December all the time/It turns out, freedom ain't nothing but missing you, wishing I'd realized what I had when you were mine/I'd go back to December, turn around nd make it all riight/I go back to December all the time
Rewrite the Stars by Zac Efron & Zendaya (written by B. Pasek, J. Paul)
Rounding out this post is one of the most iconic musical numbers from 2017's The Greatest Showman. Phillip and Anne sing this beautiful love song with themes of honesty, idealism, optimism (on Phillip's part at least), and impatience, and mixed with the imagery of them flying around the arena on Anne's trapeze, this is one of the absolute best scenes in the whole movie. Efron and Zendaya's voices blend together perfectly, and I honestly can't think of anything about this song that I don't like.
You know I want you, it's not a secret I've tried to hide/I know you want me, so don't keep saying our hands are tied/You claim it's not in the cards, but fate is pulling you miles away and out of reach from me/But you're here in my heart, so who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny/What if we rewrite the stars, say you were made to be mine/Nothing could keep us apart, you'd be the one I was meant to find/It's up to you and it's up to me, no one can say what we get to be/So why don't we rewrite the stars, maybe the world could be ours tonight
Happy Sagittarius Season, little archers! Once again, whether you subscribe to astrology or just look at it for fun like me, I hope you found some enjoyable new music to listen to this week. Happy listening, and see ya'll next week!
